Injury Update

Paris Saint-Germain have injury worries over Neymar and Kylian Mbappe ahead of their Champions League match against Liverpool next week.

Both players limped off playing for their countries eight days before the clash in Paris on November 28.

Neymar left the pitch after eight minutes of Brazil's friendly with Cameroon in Milton Keynes on Tuesday night with an apparent groin problem.

Mbappe was forced off the pitch with what appeared to be a shoulder injury during the world champions' 1-0 win over Uruguay on Tuesday.

Mbappe jumped to avoid contact with Uruguay goalkeeper Martin Campana and went down in pain, forcing coach Didier Deschamps to substitute him for Marseille forward Florian Thauvin.

NEYMAR

Brazil's team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said that while a scan was needed to confirm the exact diagnosis, he did not think the injury to Neymar's adductor muscle would keep him out for long.

"He came off complaining of pain," Lasmar said. "He felt a discomfort, he will need a bit more time to evaluate it and take a scan, but in principle, it is not a serious injury."

M'BAPPE

"He has a sore shoulder, he's fallen badly," Deschamps said at half-time. "He will have to see after with the medical staff. I hope it's not bad."

Wait a damned minute. You can't create a pre-match thread for the next game but one, whenever there is no pre-match thread for the next game. This will create shockwaves of negative energy that could derail our entire season! For the love of God, somebody rectify this!

Haha. Well it's the next CL match and there's fuck all else happening in here!

Unless you count a conversation on pins!

Create a Watford thread then. THEN create a CL one. That's the karmic rules. We're fucked.

Agreed , anything but 3 points against Watford now surely results in Froggy being banned?!

I was just thinking before I logged in - forget the Watford game - I think we will lose that 2-1, or 3-1. No way do our little midfield stand up to those giants.

Surely its bigger than that. The whole season is in jeopardy here. It might not happen in the Watford game, but sooner or later we will feel the pain resultant from this cosmic mistake.

Haha I'm stood in the immigration centre battling through Chinese Red Tape but at least this thread has put a smile on my face

So, now that Froggy is (temporarily) off the hook and @doctor_mac outed himself as a witch doctor, can we resume this thread? 🙂

PSG has beaten Toulouse 1:0 yesterday. Neymar and Mbappe were in the stands, but Tuchel says he is "hoping" they will be ready for Wednesday. For us, I think the game plan will be mostly the same whether or not one or both of them play. In the home game, the midfield trio of Hendo, Gini and Milner completely dominated their midfield (they did not have Verratti though and Tuchel further weakened the midfield by starting Di Maria there); both of our full-backs had a free reign on the wings because Neymar and Mbappe didn't bother to defend one bit.

This time, there is a strong possibility that Tuchel will use a formation with 3 CBs because that's what PSG played in the last 5 games after starting the season with the back 4. This in theory should help PSG to win more midfield battles and also free up the 3 attackers from defensive duties. The good news for us is that our front 3 usually does well against a back 3 and having them stay up and try to get on the end of long passes out of defense can be quite effective. I think our team pretty much picks itself – Milner comes in for Shaqiri and Gomez for Lovren, Salah returns to the right wing. It's a toss-up between Hendo and Fabinho at #6; I can see an argument for either one. Let's hope Bobby's goal helps him regain some confidence because his hold-up play and stringing together the combinations of the front 3 will be key to this game.

4-3-3:
----------------Alisson-----------------
----------Gomez---Van Dijk---------
Trent--------Fabinho--------Robbo
-------Milner----------Gini------------
Salah--------Firmino----------Mane

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Clyne, Henderson, Keita, Shaqiri, Sturridge

Surely same XI for this one, with 25/30 mins for whoever we think will replace Hendo against the Ev. Keep Gomez fresh for the derby, unless we think we should use his pace against Mbappe (should he start)
