Hodgson: "It will be interesting to see how Sturridge goes over the weekend. The decisions will then be taken & none will be injury-related"

If he picks Rashford over a fit Sturridge I give up. The hype surrounding that kid is already getting unberable.
"The World awaits him in the Euros". "He's like a young Van Basten and Ronaldo".
Insane.

You gotta hand it to him though, he doesn't let any opportunity pass him by. Annoyingly looks like might be the real deal at this point.

Looks like a talented kid. But to compare him to Van Basten and Ronaldo already?
Insane

Id take Rashford before Sturridge.

Its fine having Sturridge in your squad when you have a squad to choose from like in the premier league, but when you have absolutely no faith in him being able to play 6 games in 3 weeks whats the point.
He will let you down again and again.

And lets face it Vardy and Kane are the starters and if they get injured Rooney will move upfront.
Rashford or Sturridge will only be backup, why not take the kid and let him learn.

I know hes United but they have been so shit I havnt had time to hate on him yet.

Imagine England get to the quarter final, excuse me, hahahahahhah, ahhahhahaha, ok, so in that game the point is I would rather have the possibility of bringing Sturridge off the bench to equalize when we're 2-0 down to France, rather than the guaranteed prospect of bringing Rashford on, getting knocked out 3-0, and having the commentators chat shit about the young brave players who will come back stronger and more experienced in four years..

Imagine same scenario and Sturridge is as per injured and we are bringing John Stones on to play upfront last 15 minutes.

Sturridge has been fit for 4-5 months now give or take hasnt he?
You dont need him to play 6 games in 3 weeks with Kane, Vardy and Rooney.
Its about having options and the best players in the squad. A choice between a kid or probably the most natural goalscorer in the league, that should be quite easy.

If fit from that calf knock, it should Sturridge every time.

Hodgepodge has already fucked up with 3 CBs hasnt he...

We dont have any decent centre backs though. Who could he take?
Dier can play CB if needs be.

And maybe I selfishly want sturridge to stay at home. 🙂

Too right.

As for the CB question, though, we could and IMO should have taken Shawcross. Dier (a) is needed at DM, where he's been excellent, and (b) didn't impress me when I saw him at CB once or twice. Tottenham themselves switched him first so presumably they don't think CB's his bag either.

Agreed but he is only 4th choice there.
We would be very unlucky if Smalling and Stones and Cahill all got injured.

It isnt that long ago that Ledley King and Jamie Carragher couldnt get a game for England. How mad is that?

Yeah, I agree. From that perspective I'd want him to stay at home aswell. Hodgson will get him injured again

Hmmmm I think the days of blaming anyone but his sickle cell, brittle bone having, weak broken quick twitch muscled ass are long gone.

Hes brilliant.
And shit.

Roy is pragmatic/ deluded fool.

He would rather have 3 draws then 2 wins and 1 loss.

Vardy and Kane up front, Rooney / Ali behind them and let the rest of the team defend

England going into a tournament filling fans full of confidence that they'll have a chance of winning....

Watching England unravel is always fun.

I don't know any England fan who ever goes into a tournament thinking they can win. It just seems to be a myth on here among the non-English, as though it makes poking fun at the inevitable even more enjoyable. Convincing yourselves that we didn't see it coming and we always "think it's our year".

It's like listening to Everton and United fans talk about Liverpool.

Nah, it's cos the media always follow the same cycle.

They slag the manager & players off whenever they struggle. If they do well they are reserved in their optimism, then as the real build up to the tournament starts they act like England have a real chance & report it like the fans do too. Usually by grabbing some braindead cunts who support a lower league side wearing union jacks on their backs over their Lonsdale clothing & have them say "We is gonna win it this year, it's our turn innit! ENNGGERRRRLUND".

Then when they crash out embarrassingly predictably they act all "valiant effort, brave showing", big up the players, the next day they hang the manager out to dry regardless of whether it was actually his fault.

Then begins weeks of interminable reports & debates about what the fa needs to do to rebuild the national game from grass roots upwards, using examples from Germany, Spain or however did well at the most recent tournament.

I understand all that side of it, the media fawning and then diatribe is embarrassing. That's not really the same as the Irish and whoever else wanking themselves silly on here every two years at the "devastation" of the England fan.

But that is because the press make it look like "England expects", so it's easier to vilify the fa & the manager afterwards.

It's like the way they created this huge overblown public grief outpouring after Diana's death, which now accompanies any high profile death, it's self fulfilling, they say it & it begins to happen, so they start to say England can win it & those casual fans all start to repeat it.

Hold the fucking phone.
Are you cunts seriously suggesting there is a chance we WONT win it this time?

Just fuck off.
