Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

I've deffo got it now. I've had the sniffles for two days and now my chest is tight and getting wheezy. No sign of temperature or any fever, though.

I suppose it's best to get it out the way.
A runny nose is supposedly NOT a symptom of CV - it will however exacerbate the paranoia 😉

I had a runny sniffly nose for a couple of days before I developed the cough. Which made me think it definitely wasn't CV-19.

The WHO site however says:

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually.

Seems different authorities are all saying something slightly different - but there was even a graphic posted in the UK media saying Runny Nose X . Ah well.

How's the family ? Last you posted they were all falling ill !

FWIW my cough has almost completely gone after just a couple of days, but physical exertion makes it return.

Also have a very tight chest & a 'wheeze' occasionally. Have had a few 'breathlessness' episodes too.

The headache can be completely managed by paracetamol now too. I'd be convinced this wasn't CV-19, but Harrison's lost his sense of taste today, complaining his ribena was water & we were trying to trick him, he got really upset bless him.

Harrison's cough is getting worse, & worse, & worse. Which is worrying, cos he's suffered from croup really severely in the past & taken him ages to get over it, needed steroids twice to manage it as he couldn't breathe.

Isabelle keeps getting a temperature & saying she was a sore head & chest, but calpol makes it go away completely & she's got no real cough, that went away very quickly.

Luke has been really fatigued but comes & goes. No cough or temp.

Bex has been tired & had a tight chest, just started coughing this evening & has a headache too.

Have you had your boiler looked at lately? Or anything else in the house that could be causing it?

My son gets this cough from time to time, he'll get it for a day or two then it disappears and we've no idea what it is. About a year ago he had it for ages, the doc had a look at him and couldn't hear anything. Last week it surfaced and he had a slight temp for a day or two but then it disappeared again.

Kids are nothing but stress...

Stil doesn't sound good mate. Fingers crossed.

Boiler is sound, had it serviced not long ago, & it's only a couple of years old, plus have a carbon monoxide alarm.

Yeah, kids & them being constantly sick is a pain.

I'm not overly worried by this tbh, just the thought that if Harrison needs medical intervention it may not be as quick as in the past. The last time he had croup I drove to the hospital at a ridiculous speed & ran in with him & they had his airways open, steroids down him & him breathing normally in no time.

This time that's not an option, so we'll have to wait for paramedics or arrange for us to take him & avoid contact with others whilst doing so (which probably isn't a feasible option).

Dead hot shower on, don't put him in it, just same room with all the steam, and loads of Vicks. That was our croup remedy for scrote 2 while waiting for steroids or whatever

Yeah, that's what we did the first time, but then he still needed steroids an hour later. Amazing how well it worked though.

Second time he went blue whilst in bed, & I just picked him up & ran with him into the bathroom, but this time he barely recovered, so jumped into the car & drove to alder hey.

Oddly that was one weird thing that bugged me moving here, it was very reassuring being able to get to the best kids hospital in the country within five minutes, when that becomes twenty minutes it's less reassuring.

Linda Bilmes of the Harvard Kennedy School points out, the Trump administration has proposed cuts to the CDC’s funding year after year (10% in 2018, 19% in 2019). At the start of this year, Trump, demonstrating the worst timing imaginable, called for a 20% cut in spending on programs to fight emerging infectious and zoonotic diseases (that is, pathogens like coronaviruses, which originate in animals and jump to humans). And in 2018, he eliminated the National Security Council’s global health security and biodefense directorate.

Not surprisingly, the administration has proved ill-equipped to deal with the outbreak. Though COVID-19 reached epidemic proportions weeks ago, the US has suffered from insufficient testing capacity (even compared to a much poorer country like South Korea) and inadequate procedures and protocols for handling potentially exposed travelers returning from abroad.

Wuhan, endless queues for ashes of coronavirus dead cast doubts on numbers
by Lu Haitao
During the epidemic, the dead were cremated immediately, without ceremonies and without specifying the cause of death. Now family members are waiting to bury the urns containing the ashes of their loved ones. About 45,000 urnes will be distributed in Wuhan alone. The number of coronavirus deaths in China is deliberately underestimated. In the days of the peak of the epidemic, the crematory ovens worked for 19 hours a day. Journalists Li Zehua, Fang Bin, Chen Qiushi have disappeared. Photos and videos of queues at Funeral Parlors and cemeteries are blocked on social media.

Wuhan (AsiaNews) - Hundreds, perhaps thousands of people are queuing in front of Funeral Parlors in Wuhan to collect the urns with the ashes of their deceased who died in the coronavirus epidemic during city’s forced isolation.

All those who died during the epidemic were immediately cremated, without any funeral ceremony and without specifying the causes of death. Family members had to wait for the authorities' notice to retrieve the ashes of their loved ones.

On the brink of a profound economic crisis, China is pushing to restore normalcy to the country, and has scheduled the reopening of communications in Wuhan on April 8. A sign of this "normality" is the collection of urns by relatives in preparation for the feast of Qingming, on April 4th, when the tombs of the deceased are honored.

The queues and the dead

The long queues in front of the Funeral Parlors provoke the question of how many coronavirus deaths there really were. So far China has only reported 3298 deaths.

A photo released yesterday on social media (see photo) shows a long line outside the Funeral Parlor in Hankow, a district of Wuhan. Online comments say that people have had to wait for hours while public security and plainclothes policemen were watching that no one took photos. To take the ashes of their deceased, family members had to be escorted by Funeral Parlor staff members or city officials. The comments speak of "a form of surveillance".

Caixin magazine notes that the queue outside Hankow's Funeral Parlor was approximately 200 meters long; thousands of empty urns were unloaded from a truck and stacked in the Funeral Parlor.

You're really going to blame Big D for not spending his dollars to protect against the risks posed by your desire to eat bats? How about you blame the people who won't stop eating bats?
Hold on a second, have you thought that perhaps it wasn't started by someone eating a bat?

Perhaps he was going to fuck it?

But all of the assumptions in the pandemic models we are using are based upon and fitted to those numbers. Let us pray this is fake news and they were the correct numbers.

And pigs ? Stop eating pork ! Let's hear your version of the far more deadly H1N1.

Hahahaha what absolute imbecile. Trump or Bolsonaro. You couldn't make it up. It's like an Airplane! remake.

Trump has tried to get this (and the longer version) removed everywhere in the USA.

More Fun !

Why should we stop Chinese wet markets where you can casually select from a closely-caged and hideously unhygienic and brutal slaughter of bats, cats, snakes and yummy pangolins, when the West still eats pigs?!

So cynic! Many racism.
