They are drilling down into the data, cherry-picking age ranges, and mixing and matching comorbidities, until lo and behold they get the conclusion they wanted. Hospitalisations and deaths within 28 days of a positive covid test is a much clearer and consistent criteria, and it righteously leads to the clear and consistent truth of our lord, for that is whose side you ought to be on.

There is a point in it, there is obviously a correlation with your likelihood to die from Covid to how sick you are anyway. The more comorbidities you have, the more likely you'll die while having Covid. There's probably a study of how likely you are, depending on on if you have 1,2,3,4 comorbidities etc.
It's not a new thing to say, people with underlying conditions are more at risk, that's been said since the start, and a big factor in the vaccine rollout.
It's a separate thing to go, would they have died with those, if they hadn't contracted Covid, which has a bunch of studies done on it too. And it shows the numbers reported are undercounted. Just because someone has two comorbidities, doesn't mean getting Covid wasn't, at the very least, one of the main reasons they died.
On death certs, they have to list all illnesses, but they differentiate between which were linked to their death and which weren't. If you have diabetes it will go on your death cert, bit where it goes will depend on if you die in a car crash or if it was a heart attack.
