I think we'll keep getting new variants regardless of how many people are vaccinated. And with the new variants, we'll always be lagging behind trying to create a vaccine specifically for that strain.
In any case, we don't even know that high vaccination rates will stop mutations. There's science that suggests that the opposite is true, that higher vaccination rates pressure the virus to mutate to escape the vaccines. Of course, there are so many people on either side of the fence peddling their own agenda that it's very hard to discern the actual truth.
But yeah, I'm like you. I'm just trying to get on with things now. There are forces that don't want us to, though.

They could have used this opportunity to develop an anti-viral drug for the flu or whatever. Whenever it doesn't work they could have "shelved" the idea until the correct time and quelle surprise they have a drug that treats this new disease.

Vaccine and previous infection from delta apparently offer very little protection against omicron. Thankfully omicron is basically a cold.
Apparently it's ingested variety rather than smoked.
And this news comes a few weeks after Pfizer bought into a medicinal cannabis company. So maybe take it with a pinch of salt.
