Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

He's actually more interested in dialogue now than ever before, he used to scream at people he didn't agree with, but he's still quite fucking stupid and easily led.

I do agree with this. I cringe at him sometimes. And he definitely gives some guests an easier ride than others.

At least until Omicron, the vaccine reduced the likelihood of getting Covid by about 5 times(the data from the CDC a few pages back). So, taking that into account it's still more likely for you to contract Covid and get myocarditis if unvaccinated, than be vaccinated and get it from that.

My child, you mean well but that data insults our lord, to have purported scientists count things up like a tally chart, as if they are utterly bereft of the most fundamental principles of basic science, but for the fact the data spreads the good news of our lord's gift then it would be declared as heresy.

I can see people disagreeing with him, and that's fine. But off the rails to me would be more the people who think 5g is spreading Covid and it's all a plan to sterilise the population and implant microchips etc. I agree with some of the stuff Rogan says, other stuff I don't.

Ok, off the rails is a little far, but he certainly picked a side early on, McCullough and Malone got off way too lightly, as they backed up his beliefs.

I get it's just a podcast and he can say what he wants, but he'd have been better off actually trying to challenge or verify what they said, which could have been very easily done.

Yeah, agree with that. Particularly McCullough. You can be on their side, but he should play a stronger Devil's advocate in that situation.

It's insane here - I can't tell you how many folks I know have +s ... my 4 year old's kindergarden is getting shut down every few days for those who haven't recovered. She's tested 15+ times negative in 2 years ... She's probably immune but fuck knows.
I think there's 100k+/day positive which is very positive as the hospitals are not stressed etc and there's so few deaths.
Maybe it's almost the flu?

There definitely comes a point where we should only test the sick and symptomatic. Closing down kindergarten and schools every few days is likely significantly more damaging to your children than the virus itself.

I'll add to this, if you're going to visit someone vulnerable or work with them or whatever, you should probably test, too. But even then, we weren't testing for flu before visiting care homes or whatever.

Children don't get a fuck - they love it for obvious reasons but it's clearly going to cause damage to them.
My son started middle-high school this year and it took him a good 4-5 months to get used to studying etc b/c he'd spent the last year in 'corona' school, and just wasn't ready for the jump.
Won't get into how it's affecting relationships ... all of 'em ... so many of my friends have now got divorced and it's fucking depressing. Thankfully, wife and I have been ok but it's not been easy.
Hopefully, as I said, this 'flu' stage of Corona means we've almost beaten it and it will be much like the flu was before it ...

Employment tribunals are backed up to fuck because everyone is falling out at work too. Should have got into law.

That's terrible, mate. All sorts of shit is happening across the world that's probably gonna have a disastrous effect in the long run. Hopefully you're right, though, and there does seems to be a shift in the consensus, and more people seem to be coming around to the prospect of learning to live with the virus.

But as I said the other day, every time I think we're turning a corner, I see some mental policy passed in some other country, and I wonder if we'll ever be done with this. There's also the media and government that are geared and set up to magnify and dramatise any disaster. That's going to be hard to shift each time a new variant comes along.

Think it's gonna take another revolution for the French etc to ditch vaccine passports

They're starting to ditch it here basically ... I don't think it will hold because soon, you're going to have half the country positive, half the country trying to keep it running etc ... Can't pick n' chose ... I guess best way to see if herd immunity really works!

Don't know if the Italians have it in them, but they need one too. The Canadians are doing some mad shit, and those crazy Austrians as well, I think.

As much of a hopeless, evil, slimy, horrible cunt Boris is, I do fear for what comes after him. If he's ousted, some other equally odious cunt would emerge in his place, but there's a chance they would look to enforce restrictions similar to what we see elsewhere in a hope to curry favour with the nutters that want more of those things.

I think they'd have a much harder time now than they would have a year ago, so we've got away with it for now. What it means for travelling in future, I dunno.

Yeah, that seems to be the approach in several countries now, but the big question is how long will herd immunity work when you can get infected again and there might be some new variants that pop up.

You probably had an asymptomatic case ages ago and you're immune as fuck. My missus has lived in a house where for the past month at least one person has had it, and she gave up trying to hide after a few days. Just totes immune.
I was locked in with both my kids with delta December 2020 then in the past few weeks with omicron, and surrounded by pals who all got it. I was tested a few times during those times and no sign. I could have had it, but if I did it was asymptomatic and passed quickly.

Cannabis protects you from getting infected, unlike the vaccine.

David McWilliams had some fella on about the origins of this week.

Haven't listened all the way through yet:

Thing is, there's still a fair amount of hysteria with omicron the dominant strain. And people are mongs. I don't hold much hope.

There is already a new variant of Omicron detected in Denmark, Sweden and Norway and its growing quite quickly in Denmark.
Learning to live with the virus will probably also mean knowing that other variants appear. You'd hope its like the flu but seeing as 50% in the World arent vaccinated the virus might still develop in certain areas with very low vaccination rates.

I dont know. I have, like most others, given up predicting what will happen and just live life as it is at the moment.

The dude one that podcast, some academic scientists type was saying Omicron appears to have been came from a mutation within mice that then found it's way back to humans.

He offered two options on how that played out:
1. Mouse got it while running around someone's house who had covid. Spread it around the mouse community. Mutations happen within the mouse gang. An infected mouse bites a human....Omicron.

2. One of the mice they use in labs to study covid developed it and there was (another?) lab leak.

I don't know what to believe on any of this shit by the way.

Nor do I really care.

No fucking point turning your piss to gravy chasing the truth around Reddit.

You must believe in the science, but only the canonical science spoken unto you by the true prophets of our lord. They speak the good news to you and they speak the infallible word of the science.

3. Omicron could have mutated in an immunocompromised person.
