Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

I'm with Dantes and Rosco now. Yeah some people are doomed but they were probs doomed anyways and at what cost to everyone else? I've had my vaccines, the whole family made ppe 24/7 with 12 3D printers we bought off Amazon when this shit kicked off, and a competent response from western govt would have seen us out of this shit by last summer. Now I've lost pretty much everything apart from my family and friends because every policy has been skewed towards big business. I don't even know how I'm going to start again. I don't even want to.
I give it 6 months before you're telling us about some other mad project you're working on while partying at the weekend with champions league finalists.

I wonder can we convince Scarlett Johansson to strip down and recreate the Duran Duran video of Wild Boys by being tied to a mock up of a wind turbine?

Sorry to hear that mate. Stay strong. It's amazing looking back, at my age, how life's up and downs are cyclical. You'll get back up there.

Soz for moaning last night. I've got opportunities but I'm just so fucking tired and sometimes it feels like the last twenty years was all for nothing just because this last year came along, but that's bullshit because I've got great people close to me and that's by far the most important thing. Loads of people have it well worse than me. Just feeling under a lot of pressure.

See, I fucking knew it.

I've got your number, Woland.

So 117 deaths from the Delta variant recorded in the UK, and 44 of those deaths were in unvaccinated people. 73 were vaccinated.

That would be because they were vaccinated with Astra Zeneca, which the delta variant doesn't give zero fucks about, as I explained last month, when I was insane or something.

I would love to claim to be entirely altruistic in wishing @Woland and his business endeavours well.
But what I really want is to taste his beers and eat his pizza, hopefully not in the too distant future

Part of me wishes he descends into madness, rocks back and forth in his chair, then 3D prints an assault rifle, buys a train ticket to westminster, and becomes my hero, then converts to islam and plays the coming out card to walk away free.

If you've vaccinated almost all your older people, and mostly haven't vaccinated any younger people, you'll get a higher percentage of vaccinated deaths. This is as expected, given the mortality risk to someone <50 vs the efficacy of the vaccine.

It's all captain hindsight stuff at this point, but I think despite the English love of a queue, the ideal set of decisions would be to vaccinate the pool of people <45or so as one group, given they don't have massively different risks. That way you get some degree of immunity in each group of social peers, rather than entire unvaccinated cohorts swapping breath.

I think we already have our quota of mad cunts on the site.

So is it that the vaccines are sorting things, that the hospitalisations happen two weeks after cases go up, or that the Delta variant is less deadly?

Probably not that Delta is less deadly in itself. But that Delta mainly only able to infect younger people now, because of the vaccine, so less deadly because of that.

It's showing that the vaccines don't prevent you catching and spreading the delta variant. They also don't prevent more or less 0.3% of you from dying. Or if you're an idiotic glass half full fool, then it shows that the vaccines prevent more or less 1.7% of you from dying as you otherwise would have.

But it doesn't have any data related to fatality rates when vaccinated v fatality rates when not. And even that wouldn't be enough because you'd need that data by age. Like more vaccinated people might be dying of Delta than unvaccinated because the people dying are vulnerable despite being vaxxed and the people unvaccinated are young and healthy. I think it's too complex for little graphs now.

Thanks Dantes. But on a separate graph it also shows I'm much less likely to be hospitalised from 2 doses too. If I ever do catch the delta beta or alpha variant.

Therefore I'm happy in that knowledge.

Yea that's fair enough. Too early to be certain why the lower case to hospitalisation ratio / fatally rate. I'm just happy they're lower.
