Chinese "Devil Virus" - anyone worried?

So a second Lockdown coming for the UK.
Reportedly, to be announced on Mon.

Schools unis essential shops etc to remain open tho.

I think it'll only be lockdown until Christmas
Or a few weeks before to allow us to spend spend spend and then lockdown again in early Jan until march/april

Or the spending will simply happen online, on the websites of multinational corporations, on goods manufactured and distributed by uyghur workforces. I'm sure it will be a real tough choice for the government to make.

When's this vaccine going to arrive? Some time early next year?

Oh, and Sweden is still at close to zero deaths per day, despite a rising caseload. Weird. Wtf is going on there?

Whats the point in keeping schools open if the parents are just going to take them to school in the morning to go home and then have another run in the afternoon?
And mix with other parents. Then take the kids home, after mixing with 30+ other kids, to mix with your family.

No way that could spread the virus.

Just go to remote video lessons FFS, if almost every office in the world can do it then teachers can.

Saw a newspaper report the other day saying that Pfizer reckon there's a chance theirs may be ready to go by the end of the year. It's been a while since I saw references to the one Oxford are developing, but the last report I remember said something about possibly ready by next Easter.

In other news, I took part in a randomly selected home antibody test during the week. None present unfortunately.

Hahaha. Government are pissed off that lockdown plans have been leaked. With one going as far as saying "it encourages some to make the most of their pre-lockdown time"

You absolute fucking bell-end!

I've fully come to accept I won't get a vaccine until late next year as I'm in a low risk category.

This is how the govt spread information now. They want this in the paper and now they want it to look like a mistake. Next they gauge reaction and tweak the policy.

By policy, you mean coming up with an excuse for the lockdown that will in no way attribute any blame upon the government, but remains consistent with what the people are saying.

I am doing 7 days a week in our place and nearly every call is video/screen sharing. We are the civil service who are always behind the times. Getting kids set up who have lessons with tech all day shouldn’t be an issue.

Work colleague and her GF are both self isolating now after testing positive, she is asymptomatic her GF is experiencing symptoms.
Problem is March/April time her GF had similar symptoms and called 111 who said yeah you probably have it and stay home self isolate etc.

She might well have had it and now has it again but can't tell cos there wasn't the testing in place at the time.

I think latest estimates were that approx 25% of people can get it twice within 6 months.

Herd immunity isn't possible.

They're doing it here too I think it feels like standard practise for government in the pandemic

Certainly for older kids. Younger kids will still need supervision.

Don’t think some of the state schools pre September had an effective means of teaching setup speaking from experience. Just attaching worksheets with no form of communication from tutors again 2nd time is gonna leave a massive gap between schools who seemed to have a full time table and ready first time from the off especially with any exams.
All depends if all the state schools are ready and how long a lockdown will be for.
It’s a really hard choice but schools had plenty of time to prepare this time out for the expected lockdown.

Gove, Sunak, Hancock and Bojo met.
Decided they'll have a lockdown on Thur at 1 past midnight and that they'd announce on Mon.

Then it's leaked to the papers
There's an investigation launched who *Cough* Gove *cough* leaked this news.

Pushed into a presser today announced for 4
Then delayed to 5 and then delayed again...
Meanwhile the details are all told to Peston who tells everyone via Twitter.

Quality organising and great communication.

Only a matter of time before school colleges and universities are closed.

Public health England have released figures that confirms the age group between 10 and 19 are the covid as superspreaders, with most cases of covid being reported in educational settings

Let see how long it takes for the government to act..

Anyone with half Brain would have worked this out months ago..

No coincidence that increase in cases started when the kids went back to school college and university

Not just that but an independent study looking at multiple countries said there was a minimum of a 25% rise in cases after schools & Universities reopened.

It's hardly fucking surprising, but the facts literally show it happening.

Closing schools seems to be the one thing that is entirely off the table (for now!) though. Neither the government nor the Labour Party appear to be supporting it.

They already fucked everything to smithereens by not doing it. To then close them afterwards would be the most retarded fucking series of decisions in history. It's be like paying someone £12bn to look after your precious £6bn. Then deciding to take the £6bn back and leaving it on the pavement to look after itself.

But why? That's what I don't get, what's the logic behind keeping them open?

No idea mate. Having children in school is obviously the ideal scenario in many ways, but we have long given up on any idea of the ideal scenario in every other way that I can think of.
