Chelsea v Liverpool - Match Thread

Lampard: If we don't make that mistake for the second goal and you score the penalty, it's 1-1.

And if Harry Redknapp was a woman, she’d be your aunt. You muppet.

I thought Salah was really good as well. Totally on point and unselfish.

Salah was awesome, some moments where he did his classic overdribbling act but apart from that small nitpick he was really good.

I think there is no love loss between Chelsea and Liverpool and I think it is so bad that even substitute players have no respect for Chelsea players/staff.

Great 45 from Thiago. If thats for starters then we are in for some real quality.

Good lord, its like having Alonso again, but I think Thago is even better as he has that ability to sidestep and dribble past players on the ball, he's probably going to be our version of KDB in terms of creativity and assists.

I don't think so, incredibly he finished last season for Bayern without a single assist in the league. He'll get lots of "secondary assists," but not so many final passes like De Bruyne.

I think the main problem Chelsea have is that their manager is complete shit but relatively safe for ages. He's worse than Kepa. You can just see how Tory he is. Bitter fucking wanker.

I have to say I was falling for his "refreshingly honest" shtick last season. Now I'm starting to see that underneath that he's an entitled, arrogant cunt.

That's a massive win. So pleased with that.

Chelsea were very negative in their approach and we made them pay - they were thorouhgly outplayed even with 11 on the pitch.

On that note, I'm quite surprised by how negative they were. Previously they've given us a really hard time when they've gone at us full on. Today it seemed the whole game plan rested on Werner getting in behind.

Enter Fabinho. Wow. I was really concerned before the game but he put in an absolute master class. It's hard to look past the match winner Mane for the MOM but he's not far behind.

The only small criticism would be that I wish we wouldn't drop to 4th gear quite so quickly. Get well out in front - look at what Bayern do, they will pummel a team into the ground until the last minute - and then maybe think about relaxing.

Anyways... YAY!

Bayern get at least 20 piss easy games in their league every year. We get about three. Best to pace ourselves.

He is getting by because he is one of England's untouchables and has a good PR machine supporting him. He was a part of a group of players who was mocking American tourists after 9/11. He was 24 years old at that time. That is not being immature or banter. That is being a despicable human being.

And some excerpts from his autobiography

Naturally, it's all there. Frank's riches-to-riches story, the impression that he's the first person ever to become a father, the charity work. I dare you to give a stuff.
Consider Lampard's reflections after a fortnight spent on Roman Abramovich's yacht. "I suppose people imagine that as a Premiership footballer, my life is quite special," he hazards. "I would agree, but those two weeks opened my eyes to another world." Ah, a millionaire yearning to be a billionaire ... is there anything more charmless?

Martin Tyler - why do they use him for our games? Unless we're being thrashed, he's most of the time sounding SO depressed it's quite pathetic.
Here is a picture of Martin just after we scored our second

It's time for the (non poster threatening, mildly racist) raaaaaaaatinnnnngss!

How about that, then? A really strong win and as someone said in the match thread, know of the hardest games in the list out of the way. Happy days.

Allison - 7
Fuck all to do, and the only save he did was a penalty against a guy who always scores. Can't argue with that.

Trent - 6.5
Maybe I'm being harsh but his set pieces were not amazing, and he let Werner have the run of the left wing. Hard to score him higher.

Fabinho - 8
Top class performance. Looked mildly troubled once or twice, and indeed Werner did get past him when Thiago came in for the penalty, but then most players are not Werner so maybe we don't need a 4th CB after all. Would they be better than him? If Lovren played today, Chelsea would have scored

Van Dijk - 7
Scoring him less than Fabs simply because he had less to do. As always, looks imperious, and they had nobody who could really do anything to trouble him.

Robbo - 7.5
He combined nicely with Mane and he had a lot more flow on our left hand side. Maybe Kante playing more nominally on the left allowed Robbo more freedom but he was busy and was part of some nice moves.

Henderson - 7
He was busy and kept running. Lovely ball to get the red card which changed the game. Let's hope he's ok.

Thiago - 8
He finished what Hendo started. Took hold of the game and started passing his way into it. Was part of the delicious first goal, and it's clear what value he brings to this team. Loved seeing him jump for headers also.

Gini - 6.5
I'm taking points off for that bad last minute miss. He was not doing all that much, but he was part of a midfield that controlled the game so maybe that's unfair.

Keita - 6.5
He needs to improve his decision making. A couple of times he hit blind alleys and if he has a chance to start more than half of our games he needs to be a lot better.

Salah - 7.5
He kept a lot of their attention and played his part in our first goal. He wasn't the match winner today but still so important for us

Firmino - 6.5
He was shit but he got the assist so what do I know? He seemed off the pace and it feels odd having a striker who doesn't score, but that's just how we roll.

Mane - 8.5
Great header to open the game, great piece of pressing to force Arrizabelaga into the mistake. All we need is one player to be the one that makes the difference, and today it was a Sadio Sunday.

Milner - 7
Still one of our best signings in the last decade. He comes on, exudes calm, and we take the win. Nice.

Minamino -
Not on long enough to rate.

Thanks for doing these. Reckon Fabs and Sadio have to be 9+ though? What more could they have done...

Firmino 6.5 generous even as you say he got the all important 1st assist.

Kepa is at fault for the red card too, in my opinion. Christensen doesn't haul Mane down if he has any faith that Kepa will stop Mane.

Can you see Virgil or Matip not trusting Alisson in that situation?
