In the 2nd qualifying round, the "bigger casualties" were

Malmo (lost 3-0 to Zalgiris)
Olympiakos (lost 5-1 to Maccabi Haifa)
Fenerbahce (lost 2-1 to Dinamo Kiev)

The play-off draw was made today:

 
I'm not watching the Monaco-PSV game (Fofana vs Sangare) but Youssouf Fofana seems to be impressing.

 
Neres and Ramos combining twice to give Benfica 2-0 lead against Midtjylland before Enzo Fernandez added a 3rd. Looks like Ramos is going to be Benfica's next big money sales.

I think the generous multi-year Gazprom sponsorship was meant to create a level of control over FIFA and UEFA and certain politicians - Sheriff is small potatoes in comparison.

“If we play a Champions League semi-final, if you find another league in the world and another broadcaster where they put one team who is in the semi-final on a 12.30... what? What are you doing? Why would you do that? So that's why it's so difficult, but nothing happens because nobody cares.

“I don't understand it. I can understand that people want to see a football match between Liverpool and Newcastle but I don't see why any team should have an advantage or a disadvantage. The league and the broadcaster really have to try at least to help."[/article]
 
Scored in the 1st leg, 1-1 away to Monaco and scored again today to give PSV the lead.

Monaco leading PSV 3-2 on aggregate now. Youssouf Fofana having another good game. Wonder if he caught our eyes when we scouted Tchouameni.

Hopefully we draw them in the group stages and Klopp can start with the Klopp hugs and tapping up.

Then we can spend the next thtee years talking about how he signs for us in 2025, before we decide it's £10m to much and Chelsea swoop in

It's nuts we're not in Pot 1 : equal 2nd highest ranking (with City and just behind Bayern). Retarded system.

I think it's fair that we are in Pot 2. We aren't champions.

But why is the Europa League winner in Pot 1? They were 11th in the Bundesliga!

The CL isn't about champions though, that's simply the moniker. And yes, the EL winner would likely be delighted just to be in the group stage. Not that I'm really that arsed though, just thought it looked wrong.

It was so much better when they had pot 1 determined by coefficient rather than trophy winners.

Now we have to pretend that winning the fucking Dutch league etc is worth a damn. Such bullshit.
