Alonso's current deal expires at the end of the season and the lack of an announcement of a new contract until now had prompted speculation he might accept a lucrative offer from an English Premier League club. He's 32 yrs old now. Next contract (whichever club he's going to play for) he won't be expecting an increase or even to remain at his current salary level but he may accept a pay-off from Real and a reduced salary from his new club.
