Seconds after I told my mate there'd be some shenanigans at Upton Park tonight, I read this:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8221451.stm

Violence erupts at London derby

Violence has erupted outside West Ham's Upton Park stadium ahead of their Carling Cup game with Millwall.

Eyewitnesses said scuffles involving scores of fans broke out while bottles and bricks were thrown at cars.

One fan texted BBC Radio 5 live to say it was the worst hooliganism he had seen in 30 years.

A Met spokesman said: "It looks like there has been some planned trouble disorder from fans - officers are reacting to the violence."

British Transport Police said they heard reports of minor overcrowding at the Tube station near the ground, but their log shows no arrests.

The BBC's Ben Jacobs, who is at the stadium, said: "The trouble broke out outside the Tube station about 600 yards from the ground.

"There were 500 to 1,000 riot police and Millwall fans managed to break through the divide.

"Bottles were thrown and bricks were as well."

He added: "There has been a bit of trouble inside the ground.

"There was a penalty shout and fans started gesturing and throwing small objects. But police do have this under control."

It was always going to happen wasn't it? What a bunch of wankers.

Maybe naive of me, but hasn't everyone else grown up? I know you'll get the odd bit of bother and every team has a cuntish element, but really, who fucking cares about this kind of shit anymore other than the cockneys?

It's because they spotted a cocker-nee Jon.

But does this gang/firm stuff still go on with other teams? I might just be being ignorant, but I thought much of it had dried up besides Chelsea/Millwall and a couple of others?

It's tired old 1980's bollocks and has no place in the modern game George. Like you say, they all want to grow the fuck up.

Yes. Burnley and Stoke still have "firms". Arsenal bought a firm to the FA Cup tie a few years back and they got sorted out on Scotty Road after the game apparently. Turned up before the game and started singing "Sign on.." outside the Kop and throwing bottles.

It still goes on but it tends to happen away from the ground now because the police are supposedly in control of it.

Heard someone was stabbed, thats according to the news on Irish radio anywho.

Leto has apparently been in Panas best player tonight according to commentators, only just switched it on few minutes ago myself.

Leto was having an excellent game. Weird what happens when you actually give players a chance.

Yep that's been reported over here too. The stabbing not Leto.

Sheff Utd fans are the worst I've seen. Fucking horribly scummy nobheads that kick off constantly.

It's a Yorkshire thing. Very insular you know.

I've found Birmingham City fans to be equally friendly.

1-1 and a pitch invasion. Heading towards extra time!

Anyone travelling through London Bridge station later on tonight is in for a nasty surprise.

When I used to live in Bromley one of the things I really hated about it was the amount of fucking Millwall cunts there were around the place

The police have had to call for backup outside the stadium. Apparently Stanislas celebration didn't help matters!!!

Bromley is very much a St George's cross town. In fact, considering the ethnic mix of South East London, this has not split over into Kent.

They just said that he got a camera phone and was taking a picture in front of the away fans.

I know it's not very sensible, but still quite funny.

No it's not. Given what's transpired before the game it's plain stupidity and bound to provoke a reaction. Some footballers are fucking thick as shit.

I'd agree it is a stupid thing to do, but i'm not going to lie about finding that image amusing.

Considering that this lot have been fighting before the game even kicked off and have continued throughout the match, i doubt it's going to make the slightest bit of difference.

Fair point but why aggrevate an already volatile situation ? Because he's thick as shit that's why.

I agree with you 100% Sunny about his actions being stupid.

It just made me laugh when i heard that he'd done it.

He was like man playing against boys at reserve level but never got a chance to carry that confidence into the first team where he looked robust and rigid.

Scored a few crackers over in Greece already. Maybe he has found his level, I don't know, but fair play to him.
