Guillem Balague ‏@GuillemBalague 31m It is false that Xabi Alonso has got any kind of agreement with Liverpool

This doesn't contradict the rumors that we have offered a 2 year deal. Obviously there hasn't been any decision made yet. Ancelotti wants Xabi to stay, he has offers from various clubs (including us, hopefully), he is considering his options.

I used to work with Karlton81/Karl Thyer at Hammersmith & Fulham council in the mid 2000s. He wanted us to sign Quaresma if I recall; this was when I first started going on LFC forums so assumed he was Rashid. He is not. He certainly had no inside information back then, so I don't know what's happened in his life between then and now that has enabled him to be an "itk".

Almost every bellend wanted us to sign Quaresma! Every single summer we were 'linked' with him.

Wow. That's like a religious type argument.

'Well, there might be no evidence at all that there IS a god, but there's no evidence that there ISN'T either. Evolution? Nah, doesn't exist'

He actually does know what he's talking about. Transfers/team news/injuries etc. But I cant be bothered about that debate even though factswoman gets her knickers in a twist.

@MoleyBTK: The word is #lfc have offered xabi #alonso a 2 year deal with option of 3rd , confirmed by 2 sources #meltdown

@Karlton81: Big shout out to @hunter_troll who called the Alonso deal a while ago.

@hunter_troll: Soooo, I said fook all (except through DM). Hoping that somone else would say it..

Cheers @ConnorwilsonLFC @MoleyBTK

This is beside the point though. Regardless of the interest being there, would people want him back?

I'd love to have him back.

I don't think it's beside the point. You presented some fucking loony as a respectable source in your opening post. I'd say it's entirely relevant.

I'd love Xabi back, but I if that's what you want to debate, I don't think prefixing the question with the ramblings of an internet desperado really helps things.

You assume he's a loon based on Trollcos post though, which proves my point.

Heh, so there isnt a difference between an offer and an agreement in place? This thread did not turn out the way I planned.

Alonso certainly would be an ideal improvement for the holding position in our midfield. His positioning and reading of the game is so good, that it fully compensates for any lack of mobility. He is still clearly the best central midfielder in Real Madrid and at 32 years and 1 month old he is still quite young for the type of player that he is. Players like Pirlo or Alonso will have no problem playing at world-class level until 35-36 or even longer.

Loved xabi but he's not what we need right now. Can you seriously see xabi being about to run and press like how we did against spurs? Xabi's time has gone, thanks for the amazing memories but I don't want him back. Pirlo can play for as long as he has because Serie A is a lot slower league and he has runners all round him doing his work for him.

We're also linked with Fernando Reges. He's more the type of midfielder that we need right now.
Ballague says Xabi will either stay at Madridr or move to the MLS, which means our offer doesnt mean much anyway.

Dont think so mate, appols if I did. This thread has done its use I think. As little as it may be...

I assume it would work like that here?

I don't remember Lucas doing much pressing against spurs.

Xabi would be sitting back mopping up with the front 4/5 and fullbacks/wingbacks pressing.

Would be great to have him back.... preferably in January

I'm going to liken this to psychics

They say 1 right thing out of 50 and people are all like "omg he was totally spot on" because they're cretins

Hansern ain't though, he's a cool cat who is mind bogglingly optimistic over rumoura

It's endearing

I'm optimistic by nature mate
Although extremely pessimistic before our games - which usually ends well... 😉

Do we really need to go through the same shit every time Hansern posts something from Twitter?

The thread largely serves as a prompt to debate the content of the rumour rather than the likelihood of it being true. If some people want to believe it, let them. What's the problem?

If this forum was overflowing with discussion topics and the so called nonsense from Twitter was cluttering things up it'd be one thing, but it's not.

I have no issue with Twitter being used to generate discussion. It's the fibbing about the reliability of the rumours that irks me.

But I'm largely in agreement with Fabs. Hansern is a good sort - he just lets emotion cloud his judgement. I guess he's not alone there.

You had me - vomiting - at "Rashid".

I don't think Hansern is even "fibbing about the reliability". He follows a lot more LFC related accounts than me and I personally like seeing what is being discussed, even if it isn't all true (and it never will be!).

Interesting.

They're desperate not to lose him. I believe the fans have been laying it on thick recently to try and convince him he is loved.

I wonder where he will end up if he does go.

Real Madrid have confirmed midfielder Xabi Alonso suffered a perforated left eardrum during Sunday's game against Valencia.
Alonso was elbowed by Frenchman Jeremy Mathieu in the 58th minute of the game at the Mestalla Stadium, which Real won 3-2.
The 32-year-old alerted club doctors when the pain did not ease following the conclusion of the match and he returned to Madrid by car, rather than taking the plane with his team-mates.
"After undergoing medical tests, it has been found that Xabi Alonso has a perforated left eardrum as a result of a blow received in the match against Valencia," said the club's medical report which was released online.
Perforated eardrums often heal without treatment within two months but in more severe cases surgery can be required.
The club gave no indication on Alonso's outlook beyond the fact it depended on the player's progress over Christmas.
Sunday's victory was Real's final game before the festive break with their next outing being a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain on January 2 in Doha before taking on Celta Vigo in La Liga four days later.

[article=http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2528404/THE-TRANSFER-COLUMN-Liverpool-eye-Rakitic-possible-Premier-League-return-Alonso.html#ixzz2oRgBt7Ew ]Xabi Alonso is expected to turn down a new contract offer from Real Madrid this week and open negotiations over a move abroad.

Alonso, who perforated an eardrum during yesterday's 3-2 win over Valencia, has interest from Chelsea and Juventus notably.

Both Manchester clubs have been sounded out but have reservations about his age with the Basque-born midfielder turning 33 next November.

He is reputedly seeking around £8million in signing-on fees and subsequently is expected to see out his contract at Madrid rather than move in January.

Carlo Ancelotti said last week that he hoped Alonso's popularity among the fans would convince him to stay, but reports over the weekend claimed that Alonso had already made up his mind to leave for 'personal reasons,' with El Confidencial claiming the 32-year-old is refusing to take president Florentino Perez’s calls.[/article]

Not sure why he'd leave Madrid for Turin. The football as well as the lifestyle is better in Madrid - though he wouldn't have to suffer pricks like Ronaldo anymore so perhaps where the lifestyle improvement comes from.

If it is all about the family then perhaps he will be going to the MLS. Terrible waste if true.
