To swing dangerously back on topic, if these rumours are true, would it not make more sense to push for him in January? He'd make a huge impact for this season and surely his fee would only be a couple of million.

The Borrell/McParland thread was based on a devilish inside info - twitter rumour combo.

No need to throw the baby out with t'bathwater.

Why not make a Hansern -esque sticky? I quite enjoy reading about the latest speculative bullshit.

As much as I might hate saying this, I'm not sure he need another ageing, less mobile midfielder.

I think there's a world of difference between the Anfield Wrap reporting something early, and this.

There is already a thread for that stuff . Nobody posts in it.

Just put him on ignore Hansern, he's pathetic and thinks he's better than everyone, and ironically for a moderator, takes threads off topic more than anyone else I've seen on the site.

Hmmm, you may not care for Ross' delivery but he does have a point here.

There are certain posters who believe all the good shit (Alonso's coming), rubbish the bad shit (Suarez is leaving) and care not that the source has been caught lying previously.

I love a good rumour, like most, but it does seem to me that plenty of people swallow every little bit of what goes on Twitter et al. Ross is pointing this out in a thread containing a Twitter rumour. I don't see the problem myself.

Well, its not that simple though. I've been following this lad for about 2 years on Twitter. Safe to say I have a good idea about what he posts as information, and wheter or not he's been right in a lot of what he tweets. Others have said the same thing that he's pretty reliable.
I've not posted that much Twitter stuff since this summer and I wasnt planning to do it either.
But when Ross uses 10-12 tweets from about 30 000 to prove his point it just doesnt sit right with me.
Its a rumour, its not gospel. Its to start a discussion about Xabi but the one of the moderators fucks up the thread to talk about Twitter and information instead. Because it suits his agenda.

As I've said countless of times have a sticky twitter thread, it works very well on other forums. People who like to speculate on these rumours can read them there and those who like to troll can do that in other threads in the FF forum.

It's more the personal attacks on Hansern, and the fact he does this in almost every thread these days, it's tiresome. Everyone knows that Twitter is 90% bullshit, but when there's a large number of people talking about something, more often than not there's something there worth at least discussing. For context, people on Twitter called the Aspas, Sakho deals and the attempted negotiations for Mkhitaryan, Costa and Willian long before anyone else this summer, however there was also a lot of bullshit, everyone knows that. What bugs me though is that everytime Hansern, or anyone else for that matter, posts a rumour up from Twitter, Rosco wants to act as if he's the only one who can see that, and must enlighten us, when really it's just food for discussion and should be left at that.

Now if people were taking these rumours as concrete facts, it would be a different story.

The gloriously unaware Hitler youth member strikes again.

Hansern believes this guy is reliable

If we signed him in the summer, after tying up deals for 3 or quality players for the positions we need improving, I'd be over the moon.
If we signed him first (like the Kolo Toure situation) and didn't improve these areas, I'd be pissed off.
He was/is a good player, but he's not really one we need at the age of 32. We can't be starting the first game of next season with a 32 and a 34 year in the midfield.

Hang on, are you calling me a "gloriously unaware Hitler youth member"? I've got to clarify because I wouldn't have even you down as that much of a monumental cunt.

*rubs eyes*

Enough

Ignore this thread Ross

Mystic and Hansern, stop biting ffs

I'm not biting though. Its just annoying and needs to be said.

Anyhoo. As everyone know transfers happen and they dont, things change quickly in football. We're looking at several players and make several enquires, which one we'll end up with will be interesting to see.

No, he needs to come out and clarify if he's calling me a member of the hitler youth, because that's completely out of fucking order.

I'm pretty sure yes, he did mean that, as you're willing to believe everything you're told like someone indoctrinated.

That's it

He's not calling you a nazi, he's not calling you a racist, and he's not calling you a fascist.

If thats not what @Rosco meant, then he can explain it

As much as I love Alonso, I don't think buying him back is a top priority. If he is a nice to have squad player with some quality players to bolster our first team, then I think having him as a presence in the club and on the training ground would be awesome.

Alonso certainly would be an ideal improvement for the holding position in our midfield. His positioning and reading of the game is so good, that it fully compensates for any lack of mobility. He is still clearly the best central midfielder in Real Madrid and at 32 years and 1 month old he is still quite young for the type of player that he is. Players like Pirlo or Alonso will have no problem playing at world-class level until 35-36 or even longer.

Squad player? Alonso would instantly be the best midfielder we have. He will be no more of a squad player than Pirlo is at Juventus.

Fair enough, still a cuntish thing to say, and its pissed me off a lot.

if we did sign him next summer he'd be just a few months short of 33 . Now his game has never been based on pace but at that age could he still perform at the level we want ?

All things considered i'd happily have him back and see how it goes.

I used to work with Karlton81/Karl Thyer at Hammersmith & Fulham council in the mid 2000s. He wanted us to sign Quaresma if I recall; this was when I first started going on LFC forums so assumed he was Rashid. He is not. He certainly had no inside information back then, so I don't know what's happened in his life between then and now that has enabled him to be an "itk".
