Brannagan vs Exeter. Okay, it's poor opposition but you can still see the kid's got some nice things going for him in terms of fitting into Klopp's plans - pretty tenacious and works hard to close down opponents, good vision and passing ability. Shouldn't be a surprise for those who've had the chance to watch him play for the U19s and U21s previously.

It should be worth noting that with the number of Academy-developed youngsters going out on loan these two seasons, we've kept the likes of Rossiter and Brannagan, and of course Sterling previously, close to us. I don't think any scouts who've watched them play for our U19s and U21s would've passed up on the chance to nab them on loan to improve their squads, so I'd like to think that it was perhaps management's decision to keep the best ones whom they're most confident of making the grade soon close to the first team. Ibe's probably an exception because we'd brought in more experienced lads like Lallana and Markovic (he'd already played 70+ top division games in Serbia and Portugal prior to his arrival) in the summer of last season.

Signed a new contract in October last year, so he's tied down with us till Jun 2018. If he continues to show great promise, we should probably look at extending the contract again later this year or in the earlier part of next year, instead of letting it run into its final year again like in (strangely enough) Rossiter's case.

For those who didn't know, he comes from a family of Man Utd fans and we beat them to him. Makes it all the sweeter. 🙂

Post-match interview. Came across very well... except that "Yeah, course" bit at the start of each answer. Reminds me of Ryan Kent and his "Yeah definitely". 😀

Off track - I'd say Rossiter comes across the best in the post-game interviews with the young lads that I've seen so far. This is him brimming with joy after getting his league debut against Arsenal earlier this season. Aldridge seemed particularly happy and proud of the kid at the end of the interview.

Can't remember who it was, but I heard some footballer interviewed on the radio a while ago and he started every single answer with "Yeah, no, definitely". WT flying F is that all about?

Brannagan and Rossiter are shaping up well both on and off the field. Special props to Rossiter for being a boyhood bluenose who's seen the light.

He clearly has game intelligence. When he ran back to our 6 yard box to stop them scoring highlighted it for me, not often our midfielders do that

Yeah, I know exactly which moment you're talking about, noticed it too. A couple of our "senior" midfielders would not have made that run.
