Caice-d'oh!

Nah we're not getting battered. It's probably going to be totally anti-climactic and end up in a 0-0 draw or something

It’s entirely
What can possibly be the worst outcome for them?

They get reminded the FA also need a few brown paper bags nicely stuffed with some of the crisp notes Boehly keeps chucking around.

The lad is being advised by a dickhead who is looking for his big pay day, under the pretense of helping his client.
Interestingly, he is a nobody in the agent world, and after this process he can be sure that he won't have a career as a serious agent.
Lad might prefer Chelsea, as they have offered higher wages, but is also open to play for us. His agent have other plans though.

Lots of bickering from Chelsea and their shills in the press/twitter being spoon-fed crap trying to force us to blink.

Tap-in has really shown his colours.

Tap-in is loving it. He's doing his job.

He has a line from Chelsea and/or Caicedos agent and he's using it to full effect.

Any neutral journo would do exactly the same.

If we sign Caicedo there will be zero love from the fans. No song.

He'll simply become our expensive mercenary for hire.

Only redemption would be a public sacking of his agent and an apology for being misled.

Or a hat tick against any of City, Utd, Everton or Real Madrid.

To be honest, if he’d been talking to Chelsea for over two months, and he probably has, then we could look at it as him doing the decent thing and having loyalty to Chelsea. We did just suddenly show up with a bid when he was already set to go to Chelsea.
His agent would no doubt have spoken to us to negotiate a contract but that’s his agent making sure Caicedo’s covered, should the Chelsea move fall through.
Not sure putting him in the bracket of a mercenary is completely accurate.

If we lose out on both Lavia and Caicedo it will be all doom and gloom b4 the season has even started for us.

Zero chance. His style of play will have Anfield screaming his name in delight as he breaks Everton in half.

This I agree with Dreamie - no-one will give a fuck if puts the effort in.

Suarez is a prime example.

No-one will care or remember the minute that first crunching tackle goes in.

Unless it’s on one of our players while playing for Chel$ki.

Lol I think people overthink this Twitter stuff. Schmadtke or whoever isn't gonna pull out of a deal because Fabrizio Romano is repeating some texts from an agent on Twitter

BBC reporting that its Hogan who is lead for this negotiation.

Nor should we.. we'd be strengthening a rival on lower terms.
Yep. I'm proud we're fighting this and not letting Chelsea steamroller us by demanding we withdraw our offer. That said there has to be a basis for our optimism / bloody mindedness otherwise it's a pointless exercise that I doubt we'd persist with.

I'm guessing that initially Caicedo had personally spoken with the club / Klopp and was positive about joining us - otherwise why would we even make an offer after Chelsea had been chasing him for 3 months ? There's no logic otherwise.

What's gone wrong is his agent looking for more and Chelsea / Boehly's embarrassment at being outbid and anger at having to go far above their valuation / offer. Lavia is just pure spite.

Now we are likely persisting because of that FFP ceiling and if it means anything then we surely have a case. And clearly it does otherwise Chelsea would not be offering Brighton players.

This weekend is going to be interesting.

People keep saying Klopp must have spoke to him. Wouldn’t that be tapping him up considering we hadn’t bid.
