BYE BYE ROY!!!!!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/07/roy-hodgson-liverpool-press-conference?

Roy Hodgson's increasingly beleaguered situation at Liverpool was illustrated today when the club cancelled a pre-arranged press conference to preview Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie at Manchester United.

The Liverpool manager is believed to be close to the sack following a miserable six months in charge and refused to answer questions on his future in the aftermath of Wednesday's 3-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers.

Hodgson's future would, inevitably, have dominated today's press conference, which was expected to start at 1.30pm but was cancelled at 11.44am. The manager has not left the club, however, and an interview with Hodgson is scheduled to appear on Liverpool's in-house television channel and website later today.

As reported by the Guardian today, Liverpool's Spanish players Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina are considering their futures at Anfield regardless of whether or not Hodgson stays in charge.

This. Especially the bit in bold.

I can't believe the twats still here.

I'm really feeling down, the Ships rudderless.

The Yanks are REALLY REALLY fucking up by keeping quiet, Roys lost the fans already, and they will go the same way.

The last thing the club needs is another Us and Them Yanks out scenario.

Well of course it would have dominated it, but the issue won't go away just because they cancelled the press conference!

All that has done is stop Hodgson getting all grumpy and saying something stupid to the press again.

Just as a quick aside - the guys already getting sacked; everyone knows it, but walking into the game against Utd with Sammy in charge looks amateurish.

What the owners/board are deciding on is whether Kenny can fill in in the interim (also, he's away) and who the long term successor is - I would like to see Hodgson gone, but as soon as they shoot him everyone (naturally) will be clamouring to know what the plan is; theyre working that out now so we dont come off half arsed.

I won't bother watching the FA cup or another league game as long as he's in charge.
Too painful.

Quite. I've no doubt the delay is down to their desire to get a long-term manager in place immediately. Unfortnately it seems the their first/second choice managers (probably Deschamps and one other) are not available mid-season so it's a case of either identifying someone else they're happy with or really hanging in there to convince Deschamps et al.

It's not as if he would have faced a grilling from the journo's anyway. He is getting away with murder in the press.

"Good afternoon Roy, so, how much of the blame lies with Rafa Benitez, all of it, or just the majority, with the fickle scouse fans to blame for the rest?"

Hes clearly getting the sack regardless of the result at Old Trafford, he knows it, the players know it and we know it to. The 'when' is yet to be decided, there is no sense in sacking him simply for the sake of it and not having anybody ready to take over in whatever capacity is deemed neccessary. A club without a CEO is bad enough from an organisational perspective but a club without a CEO or a manager would be a complete catastrophy.

He will probably be allowed to continue ti the Blackpool game but Id be amazed if hes still there in 10 days time for the derby, he knows the situation and hes just playing along until the cheque is signed

Christ imagine the atmosphere if the King was back for the Everton game, I dont think he should get the job in a long term capacity but that would be something else

He's respected around Europe you know. By all the teams that beat him while he managed whoever.

Like Northampton Wolve and Blackpool et al respect him in England

...and hopefully giving Kenny the job in the interim .

I would have assumed that they would have sacked him regardless of having a replacement lined up as it's the only possible way to walk into Old Trafford with any sort of credibility. To be led in there by a ponce who can't even face the FAWNING media that still blame Rafa and love Woy because of his passport - it's the lowest moment in LFC footballing history.

Say what you want about off pitch activities, I'm talking about the running of the club. This is the complete nadir.

don't be silly, the media aint like that bruv. they're consistent and unbiased. haven't you seen the constant vitriolic abuse martin o'neill's been taking for leading aston villa to the relegation places?

or maybe you missed that - just like me.

Brave brave brave brave Sir Hodgson
[/quote]

He is the new brave brave John Terry.

The most annoying thing about this perpetual limbo we are in is that (unless Comolli is pulling his finger out) we are seven days into January and no closer to improving the squad to help us pull away from the relegation zone.

Whilst I don't exactly want Beckham, Bridge or Ronaldinho (but would bite your arm off for Dzeko) this twilight zone we find ourselves in is so fucking infuriating - even sack or back the dithering old fucker, and lets get a second striker and a player or two who can play on the wing and - I'm going to state a fucking weird idea here - beat a man.

Everyone says he gets the sack regardless the result against united.. and still he hasnt got the sack based on the results so far. There is no sign of him getting the sack after united besides a lot of uninspiring media reports suggesting NESV is uncourage and maybe will consider his position. Its a fucking joke..

Er, didn't the replacement of one coach who'd lost it with another who's f$%!ing pathetic get us into this predicament in the first place..? What state would we be in if they replaced RH with somebody even worse still (I know, don't bother...), just do so something, anything? Then you'd moan even harder.
