Rory's smith doing a web chat now, reckons hodgson will still be there for Bolton game. FSG or whatevea there called don't want to appoint an interim manager, want a young ambtious manager to build the club around.
[/quote]

Well, I said that all along but I hoped the wolves game would force their hand. To be fair can the make footballing decisions with no CEO in place?

Their main fear being that having no one at the helm for the crucial upcoming games could be even more damaging than sticking with Hodgson.

How can having noone at helm be more damaging than sticking with Hodgson?

[Comment From Jonathan Jonathan : ]
Rory, who would you list as the young, ambitious managers FSG might have in mind?

Rory Smith:
Right, this is based on what you might term educated guesswork rather than any guidance, but I would say the five managers Liverpool would look at in the summer are: Frank Rijkaard (maybe a bit old now, but an established name), Owen Coyle (proven-ish in England, plays good football), Jurgen Klopp of Dortmund, Didier Deschamps of Marseille and Andre Villas Boas of Porto. In terms of who I'd have, the last one. He's 33, Mourinho's old assistant, plays good football and he'd be a jolt of the unexpected. Liverpool is flatlining; you need a risk to revive it.

Didn't Andre Villas Boas just sign an extension to his current deal?

Rory Smith:
He did. I had completely forgotten how much contracts mean in football. You can barely move for honoured contracts. Klopp's also just signed an extension. Coyle's a year into a five-year deal, isn't he? Everyone has their price. But you're all right to suggest all three are unlikely now. The summer is much more likely, which would indicate Roy might hang on.

Our very own StevieM has just been on Radio here - 3AW - being interviewed about the plight we're in.

Stevie's first sentence: "The manager has to go"

Ha, very good mate. I'd have finished the sentence off with "and get fucked" but anyway, good work. Stevie - link it if you know how to.

Roys attitude in all this is bizarre.

Is he trying to get sacked?

Attacking the fans and the owners in one night.

Players attitudes are equally unlikable though.

Torres really looked like he couldn't give a fuck. He's cost us a fair few points this season in half arsed performances.

This club is infested with shite.

We need a fire sale, a new work ethos installed, new players, new management- the whole shabang. The buck shouldn't end with roy.

We didn't just lose due to an inept tactical performance.

Zero effort,zero creativity.

Fuck everyone off bar gerrard, carra, raul and pepe

Roy will get sacked? Why? Hes a complete mess, his signings are shit (bar one) and we are playing like shit.
There is no way he'll survive January because it wouldn't make sense and I still believe the world hasn't gone completely mad.

You are right HC it was not just because of the tactics and selection, but that was the main issue.

We have always said , or at least I have, that last season ,and to a greater extent this year, we have a decent team, but a very thin and largely shit squad, I have been bleating for the last 2 years about our shortcomings up front and when a player that should be no more than third choice at best is looking as good if not better than Torres that is a real problem.
Anyway we have a crap squad, and that is not Hodgsons fault, and so you have to get the shape tactics and selection absolutely spot on each and every time to make the most of it, if you don't you are fucked.
We never looked like scoring on Wednesday and when we went one down everyone said the same thing " I can't see where one goal is coming from - let alone two", and so it came to pass. No one on the bench was capable of changing the game, possibly Maxi who for some bizarre reason did not feature at all - OK he is a bit slow, but he is one of the few players we have than create something.
As soon as the team ran on the pitch the words "where is the width" was on everyone's lips. We don't have it in spades at the best of times. He fucked the whole shape and played our most in-form player out of position , just to accommodate fucking Lucas in the middle. Look, Lucas has not been playing badly, but not to the point that everything revolves around him. The substitutions, just made no sense at all Hodgson has now hung himself with the same noose as fucking Benitez, he must have found it in the cupboard at Melwood and it is made up of strands from Lucas, square pegs in round holes, crap substitutions and crap spouted to the media.
I can't believe I thought he could steady the ship for a few months until the ownership change.

regards

Roy Hodgson regrets comments about Liverpool fans
Roy Hodgson
Hodgson is enduring a difficult first season at Liverpool

Under-fire Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has apologised to fans for any offence caused by his comments after the 1-0 home defeat by Wolves on Wednesday.

The club's eighth league defeat of the season to the relegation scrappers was greeted by a chorus of boos, prompting Hodgson to call for more backing.

"I'm disappointed and I certainly regret if I have offended them in any way," Hodgson said on Friday.

"It was not meant to be an offensive comment in any way," he added.

"It was meant as a defensive comment. I was taking responsibility and prepared to accept that I would be in the firing line. I'm very disappointed if that has been transformed into me attacking the fans."

In the closing stages of the defeat to Wolves, who had not previously won away all season, fans sarcastically chanted "Hodgson for England" and sang the name of former boss Kenny Dalglish.

Following the match, Hodgson appeared to suggest that their energy would be better directed to getting behind the team.

"I have to hope the fans will become supporters because we need support. We are not deliberately losing games," he said.

But speaking at a scheduled news briefing ahead of Saturday's crucial home match against Bolton, Hodgson said he understood why fans were so unhappy with the team and their manager.

"Fans always have the right to show their anger and disapproval - we've got fantastic fans but you have to give them something to be passionate about and we didn't do that on Wednesday," he added.

"I don't think they were happy with anyone and as manager you are first in the firing line.

"The Anfield support will always be there and what's more it's better in times of crisis."

Dead man walking if you ask me

Taking up vlad's point with regards to subs;

Taking off Lucas bringing on maxi is a positive change.
1. It moves gerrard and meireles to the middle.
2. It moves kuyt to the right.
3. A defensive player is being changed for an attacking player.
Several positions improved with one sub and the team has more attacking momentum.

But instead Roy changed;
Ngog for babel - someone who also isn't going to shield the ball or play with their back to goal.
Cuntchesky for aurelio - someone that whilst more attacking isn't going to improve the disjointed midfield.

Basically SHIT tactics.

Fair play to him.

Better late than never maybe, but not by much. This is just the latest in a series of retractions he's had to issue. The man is all at sea and drowning.

Sounds to me like Tom Werner sent him a strongly worded email overnight.

He's sinking, without a doubt. I just hope he doesn't take the club down with him.
