According to Wiki, parent company for Warrior, new Balance's revenue was $1.55 billion, I think they can afford £25m a year!
One more thing to consider is apprently the Adidas deal didn't hve LFC sharing any revenue from sales like Utd, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barca have with their kit suppliers, so this looks like a real real win win deal for LFC.

Someone posted the following mock up on RAWK.

I could live with that!

Warrior should hire this man.

Concur.

And I'm not sure if it can be any worse than some of our Reeboks.

How quickly they forget..

If the shirt they design is ugly, we could lose all the additional money we've gained through this deal in weak shirt sales. I really would like to know if they have EVER designed a football kit before. If it turns out they have no expertise, this might not be such a good deal on our part.
We don't make a significant amount of money from shirt sales anyway. I remember trying to figure it out recently enough, and guessed that the shirt sales would come under commercial revenue, of which we made something like 65m, 40m of that was fees received for players, roughly 15m of it was our shirt deal and sponsor at the time. Leaving 10m split between what i figure was other smaller sponsorship deals, including pitchside advertising etc and merchandise sales.

Basically selling merchandise wouldn't cover Steven Gerrard's wages for a year so a drop in that will be more than offset in the doubling of the shirt deal.

Great news!

FSG seem to be doing a very good job in the short time they've been our owners.

People still doubt them

I think I'm right in saying that we do not get the money from every shirt sold anyway. We only get it money from the shirts from our official outlets, so we're talking a very small percentage here.

Another advantage of this is that we won't have a Chelsea shirt which has been dyed red. It might be shit, it might be great - but at least it will be ours.

I guess some people are going to be skeptical for a while yet mate, but on the evidence of what we've seen so far personally i'm liking them lot.

So, all the RAWKers, that boycotted the shirt, until H and G were gone, were being ineffectual ?

They weren't "hitting the Yanks in the pocket" ?

...and with a bit of luck we'll have a bit more input into the actual design than I suspect we've had with Adidas.

Not really, no, but they're not the brightest bunch in the world.

Great news. As for the kits looking like ice hockey kits, I very much doubt they'd make a kit without familiarizing themselves with the market. They want to sell them, after all.
Haha, quite. I think some people are expecting them to come with a free stick.

Well this shirt deal is the evidence against that isn't it ?

Merchandising is worth peanuts directly to a football club (I've always felt it's an FM perpetuated myth), it's the sponsorship deals that are were the money is and clearly the more LFC shirts sold the bigger the sponsorship deal should be. This deal would suggest the protest made fuck all difference, both of our shirt related deals have doubled in spite of it.

yes but Warrior will have noted that RAWK's protest ended with the sale of the club and factored that into the terms of the deal.

For that money this is a global branding exercise. They'll want to sell as many shirts in every continent, so they'll copy off Nike and make it as bland as possible. Like Bud. That;s the thing with globalisation, you end up with the least offensive and thus most boring crap being the market standard.

And I'm pretty certain that we get nothing from shirt sales if they're not sold through the club.

The 25m covers that. I mean we sell around 1m shirts a year - so that's already 25 quid a shirt. There's no room for an additional payment, in fact this is almost certainly a loss leader for New Balance as they attempt to globalise the brand.

The figures bandied about before were 700,000 jerseys. But obviously jerseys are only one aspect of it.

Overall we were selling more merchandise than Madrid according to Adidas.

Yeah 'were'. I posted that link. It's two years old now. I read something last night that suggests we've slipped from first to fourth place in shirt sales, behind Barca, Madrid and Manure.

Either way, the maths are simple. If we're already getting 25 quid a shirt - net - then we can get surely get fucked for anything else!

The figures are from August 2010.

We were never first in shirt sales - we were top of the Adidas total merchandise table, but second in shirts to Madrid.

We were fourth overall.

Oh right, whatevers. It was an Arbeloa quote when he signed for Madrid saying Adidas told him we were top of the pile. The point is that this must be a loss leader for New Balance. If we're getting at least 25 quid a shirt - I mean they must wholesale for about 30. There's no margin for them to profit.

Or maybe I'm missing something, again.

I should have said it earlier, but I agree with you on that. It looks like they are paying a premium to enter a new market.

'Oh the kits will look naff'
'bank names across the front'

Who gives a fuck? It's great money.

We could be sponsored by Tampax with some slogan about 'keeping the reds in' across the front and I wouldn't give a fuck.

Yeah, fuck that, I don't want Liverpool FC wearing some Spurs Puma back-to-front-looking trampy shit.

Cheers for the coin, now don't fuck up the kit, you cunts !

It's 50% mark-up on top 4 premiership shirts here in the States. Shirts go for about $80.
$140 here. Truefact.

I don't care how the kits looks like but it would be nice if we won the Premiership as the best dressed team 🙂

I think Brendan once said or quoted that Alan Hansen was so good that he could play football just as well in a tux
