Some of our footy in that game was just ludicrously intricate, and yet with end product. I hesitate to say it, but I actually think the quality of the football is even better than when we were on last year's crazy run. A bold statement, and it's there to be shot down, but fuck it. Lovely football.
You're probably right, it is, we aren't as direct and lack the same clinical edge we had last season though.
We still seem to have to work quite hard to score a goal, though. I wonder how this system would work with 2 strikers instead of 2 AMs?
I think it is 'better' because we're not quite as direct. Maybe not quite as effective, but by God it is easy on the eye when we're pinging the ball around and with a stack of players who can dribble around or turn their men inside out.
Know what you mean but it feels as if someone is due for a severe spanking the way we are currently playing. Hopefully around the 22nd!!!
I agree with this and was thinking over the weekend how the injury to Sturridge really ruined our season, but it has forced a change and the result is we are playing beautifully and are much less predictable.
Last season, if Suarez was off and Sturridge was bottled up, then there was little threat. Or vice versa. And that is what Chelsea took advantage of when they parked the bus.. But, I really think it is harder to defend against our current team and if Sturridge can find his first touch, we will be truly amazing.
I think it needs the 2 hardworking AMs myself.
Btw, Can is an immense player we have got for just 12m. His footballing intelligence for such a young age seems very unlikely. He has understanding of every position he plays in. When he played as a wing back, it seems like that role was made for him. I am sure, if he Brenda asked him to play as GK, he would be even better than De Gea. Impressed
