Burnley’s last roll of the Dyche to escape relegation?

That is a surprise but I guess they are really in the shite now. Beating Everton and then getting chinned by Norwich is inexcusable.

Funny if they got Fat Sam in, plays the same game and is also a bit of a ballbag.

I’m saddened ….. [emoji13]

Actually I am surprised. They are such a good combo (Dyche and Burnley) that I fail to see the point in changing things. He’d be strong in the championship and he’s had them over performing for years.

Does this mean Juergen is the longest serving now?

Bit of a surprise but you can kinda understand it. If they can get someone in who can get even just a bit of a bounce early on then they have a chance. Their fixtures aren't too bad.

I actually have a bit of a soft spot for him.

He has his thing, it's not the most attractive football, but he gets the most out of what he has and doesn't bow down to the bigger clubs. So it's natural that we all think he's a dick as he's had players kicking the shit out of ours, or he's going against what Klopp thinks is best.

Strange decision, unless they already have someone lined up to take over.
Or maybe they've given up and are preparing for a season in the Championship

I never liked the way they played, but I didn't particularly have a problem with Dyche over it. What got me thinking - no, knowing - he's a dick was the way he mouthed off at Jürgen when they won at our place with an even more appalling display than usual of their UFC "football" and Jürgen called them out for it.

I think they reckon they're down now and want to give the new manager an early start. Good riddance to Dyche and what he stands for.

I don't know, if they had accepted relegation, surely they would have waited until the end of the season?

I imagine they have decided a while ago that he was going no matter what, they just pulled the trigger now so they can try and squeeze out of relegation.

Yeah that makes more sense

His gravelly voice is enough for me to want him in top level management.

He has had an absolute pittance to work with at Burnley and it was a matter of time as to when things went wrong.

I didn't mind Dyche until he mouthed off about diving.

One way of cheating (diving) is really really bad, but another way of cheating (kicking players into the air, shirt pulling) is perfectly fine

That next to last sentence actually makes no sense whatsoever though. They are just 4 points behind Everton, 8 games to go, what would likely be a better GD and an easier run in. If they had a new manager (for the bounce) then maybe one could understand it, but handing over the reins to a conglomerate made from backroom staff. It's a really really really weird decision.

Completely agree. To hand it over to an interim, skeleton crew makes no sense at all to me.

He's one of the biggest and most outspoken detractor of the 5 subs rule, so fuck him.

3 subs didn't help his team anyway.

It IS a weird decision, which is why none of the explanations others have suggested add up in my book.

Incidentally I think you underestimate the danger they're in. Four points is a significant gap to try and close this late in the season, and I'm always sceptical of the "easier run-in" argument. To me that says they're due to play either fellow strugglers or teams under no pressure who can often play their best football of the season.

Yes it makes me think there's a backstory to this.

However on the other matter :
Everton have Leicester (x2), Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, Brentford and Watford away to face. I don't see many points there for them despite their win over a pitiful United, maybe 4 games if I'm being generous. All of those teams however are in form (bar Watford).
Whilst Burnley have Villa (x2), Spurs, Watford (A), West Ham. Southampton, Wolves and Newcastle (A) last game. Maybe 6 potential games in which they could pick up points.

That could easily still go down to the wire which is why it's very weird to sack Dyche now, we better hope there's a bounce but I can't see them doing better than Dyche.

The Gruffalo has been taken down. His roughneck image suited Burnley and it was down to Dyche that they got into the Prem in the first place.

Just has to wait a few months till the Everton job becomes available again.
