So we were at Yo Sushi tonight (it's Blue Plate Mondays) and the girl who works there is leaving. She's nice, she looks a bit like Xenia Onatopp in Goldeneye except more introverted, but she's worked there since it opened and kinda recognises us and says Hi and that.
Anyhoo, it turns out she has a Law Degree and a Masters from Cambridge, but she's leaving there to try and get into sales, because she can't get a recruitment consultant job without sales experience.
Seriously - what the fuck?
I mean, okay, I went to uni and never got a job doing the thing that I went for (Product and Furniture Design) and probably about 80/90% of the people that I know who went to uni do jobs that have got absolutely fuck all to do with what they studied - but I thought Law was like Medicine and that sort of shit, ie you get your degree and you're pretty much guaranteed a reasonable job. Certainly if you've got a fucking Masters from Cambridge you would legitimately expect to not be working at Yo fucking Sushi in Milton fucking Keynes with an ambition of getting a sales job.
Okay, she's a woman, and she's got a bit of an accent (Slovakian, probably makes me think she looks like Onatopp more than she actually does), but I find that pretty fucked up and disturbing.
