Brisbane roar match thread

Ings working very hard and winning the ball back up top numerous times. Good to see.
No surprises with Origi, great athlete but he's lacking in technique. Potentially a Babel mk II.
Lucas isn't offeriing much in the middle. We could lose him in this match.
Gomez's first touch is brilliant. Seriously impressed at this stage.

He's had a bad game - but he is fine.

You get the impression with Origi that people have more or less decided what he is (can't finish, or no technique - just an athlete) and are then looking for evidence to fit that judgement.

With many people, it's pretty much the same with every player. We're going have to put up with a lot of that when Benteke joins.

Milner and Lallana the standouts for me. I like Gomez's potential, but loads of you are way over the top with your praise for him in that first half. Of course, looking at what we've run out at LB lately (Flanno excluded) I suppose it's not hard to see why.

It depends how we play, but I think he'll get his chances, he deserves them.

I'm sure he'll get chances. But it'll be at another good player's expense.

That's more my problem, rather than just Lallana himself. Coutinho, Firmino, Markovic, even Teixeira have shown equal or similar promise.

Thats fair, unfortunately I think it's inevitable that Markovic will go on loan, I'd still start Lallana more than not though because he has a knack of scoring / creating goals, more so than other players.

A number of players have shown poor communication, hardly a surprise in that regard and they will get much better.

Looking good : Lallana, Ings, Milner, Gomez

OK but need to get involved more : Clyne and Origi

Quiet : Skrtel, Sakho (though could have had a goal), Ming, Lucas

Henderson has looked very quiet and he's one that has yet to get his passing together. Milner has been hugely involved and he's going to be one of the keys to our season.

It's early season yet but some old weaknesses are still on show. Why do professionals treat the ball like a rattlesnake?

I'm impressed by Ings' control and first touch. Didn't know what to expect from him when he joined, so I'm happy to see him show his ability in this area.

A really bizzare finish, but it's great to see Milner scoring with a late run into the box.

Brilliant run and shot from Ibe that, unlucky. Sterling would have done that and then softy passed to the keeper. Hopefully Ibe gets plenty of game time this season, and playing with the forwards not as a wing back.

He looks like he could be a great impact sub / Europa starter this season.

Mostly because he's very good. A few misplaced passes so far doesnt change that
I'm not judging him just on today's performance Hansern, I've criticised him previously. He's not terrible and I don't cringe when I see his name on the team sheet but there are some posters who seem to think he's very good.....and I don't. If the options beside Skrtel are Toure, Lovren or Sakho then yeah he probably should get the nod (although I want to know where Southampton's Lovren has gone to) but I'm hoping Gomez is the "real deal" and cements a place before long (beside Skrtel).
