Rafa usually attempted to get at the opposition for parts of the game away in Europe to get an away goal. He generally put out teams that at the very least had a goal in them. This team is pretty diabolical, and while, as many have said, it is capable of grinding out a 0-0, it is simply not capable of doing it consistently, especially against decent opposition.
So it was a bit of a gamble.

I won't be too pissed if we came home with that scoreline. But I'd like to see some proper effort to try and rectify it. Before Carroll's introduction, we've played like we don't really care and expect to walk the 2nd leg at Anfield.

Hmm that's an interesting tactic by Carroll there to get that header. Wonder if that's rehearsed with Skrtel during training.
Carroll making a big impact. Cole, as mediocre as you are, you are better than this, you should be able to find some space now so fucking do something.
We've looked a different team since Poulsen went off and Carroll came in. Smell a goal for us soon if we can keep the momentum and pressure up.

Now that we've Carroll on, we really should switch Johnson back to the right. Bit of a risk at the back but he's a lot better attacking down the line from his natural side, and we could use that right now.
Would be a shame to come home without a goal now that they're a bit panicky at the back.

We need people who can cross the ball. It really isn't complicated.
