I thought it was a bit a shit to be honest.
Both fighters were cautious. Not willing to get hit to give a hit. Haye landed about 3 solid blows on Wlad. Wlad landed about 3 on Haye. The rest of the rounds were just Haye shadow boxing on the outside, unable to get in. And Wlad, jabbing from the outside, unwilling to trade inside.
A dull uneventful contest. Neither were hurt or busted up. It was a comprehensive win for the bigger man, because he was bigger. He used all of his advantages (reach, height and weight) and avoided taking any risks. For all his talk of KOing Haye, it was disappointing.
As for Haye. Well, he tried. But his excuse making at the end is rather pathetic. I would have had more respect if he had come out and said "look, there are reasons why I don't think I boxed well, but tonight's Wlad night and I'll give him all the credit".. but to blame it on a toe injury, immediately after the fight, makes him look weak.
The truth is, he's a "good" small man with a big punch. His boxing skill, in itself, isn't that great, but usually the big right hand is the equaliser. Wlad is a "very good" big man, whose boxing skill, although not spectacular, is a darn sight better than Haye's.. and he used it, as well as his sheer size, to keep Haye away all night. A typical W.Klitschko performance. At least his brother would have pushed for the KO once he realised Haye only had wild right hands.
