Could have sworn that Holloway talked about playing him in a more advanced role.
We are not talking about him being the striker though
Sorry Count I must have missed this post.........no, at Blackpool he was an attacking CM'er. Blackpool play a very expansive game and most of their midfielders (bar Ferguson) get forward at every opportunity. Shelvey was very evident in-and-around the opposition penalty area when he played for Blackpool but for goal kicks etc he resumed his CM position.

So ... If he broke his ankle against United - was he training with us before he went off with Italy?

His injury typically doesn't need surgery unless there's displacement or non union of the bone. If he's been weight bearing on a broken bone in his ankle the chances of successful surgery reduce a bit.

Sacking that medical team isn't looking so clever now

Did Borini and Sturridge ever play together at Chelsea?

It's so strange that they were trying to buy a pair of the best young strikers in Europe and bring them through and instead they both end up with us and they have Torres. If we hadn't wasted that cash on Carroll we'd be laughing our arses off.

Took a quick browse through the games Borini played for Chelsea - he mostly came on for cameos as a late sub. He's been on the same matchday squad as Sturridge a couple of times, but they've never been on the pitch together as far as I can see. Usually Sturridge would start and then come off before Borini was introduced, or in one case, Borini came on as a replacement for Sturridge himself. In another case, they were both holding hands on the bench.
