Not exactly news but Rafa has again come out and said that he wants the job, if Dalglish fails that is.

More interesting is the bit about Hodgson claiming that he was left with a poor squad.

Anyway it's all here:

Let's say that Rafa gets the job, would he fire Comolli to control the transfers himself?

I dont think Rafa could fire Commoli now, he looks like a permanent fixture.

Why he come back, he always bitches about not having enough control and decisions going over his head, clearly the Commoli role means rafa would have less power.

I love the bloke, I really do but right now and here I dont think its the right time for him to come back.

Some day though, I'd love him back.

I think Rafa needs to move on.

I agree. But to be honest when we were loosing against Wolves and Blackburn I kinda wanted him to come back if Dalglish wasn't wanted.

He wouldn't be able to sack him I don't think. He would probably bitch and moan about him so much that he would end up going in the end though.

In any case, I doubt Benitez will be coming back anytime soon, if ever.

This is becoming embarrassing for Rafa. He really needs to accept one of the numerous job offers he's supposedly getting.

He should take over Blackpool and knock Man U and Chelsea of their perch like when he had Valencia.

HAHA, just watched the video.

Thanks for pointing out that you'd never go to Utd, rafa!

I was starting to worry. I think he'll end up at Fulham or something in the near future.

I think Rafa would actually do very well in a set-up where he didnt have total control, provided he could accept outside input.

Fair enough what he said about wanting to come back. It sounds like it's genuinely his dream (and I think his regret also that it ended the way it ended), and he has the right/freedom of speech to state that when asked. He almost sounds desperate to want the job back. While I had had enough of rubbish football and poor deals by the end of his reign and don't think the decision to replace him was wrong, I can honestly say that the brief clip made me feel a bit sad for him.

Maybe he'll go to Citeh, and Mourinho goes back to Chelski.

He should get rid of that pseudo-beard or grow the real, full, bushy thing.

Sorry I'm late Spidey. I've enjoyed watching Rafa's attempted media charm offensive lately. How many times has he attempted to do his bidding via the media lately? His Pr team are doing a good job.

Henry recently reiterated his desire to do things the Liverpool Way, why then would he engage with a manager who goes about his business in the opposite way?

Rafa hasn't got a hope of landing the job, but wants to try and stir up done support in the vain hope that it has some effect on the powers that be. It's pitiful but enjoyable to see.

I know this may seem like shite and at the time of hearing it i was like "whaaaart what the fuck has that fella just badly let the cat out the bag?" but i was sittin of with me da watching sky sports cunts chat shit abaa other twats and there was a fella on who spoke with a spanish/scouse accent. I wasn't paying much attention an neither was me da like, just sittin off like ya get me, so anyway this fella starts chatting as if he's mates or was mates with Rafa. He ended up saying he's 99% sure he's returning to a premier league club. I was waiting about like to see if the rumor mill went ape shit of it but nothing got said. Is Henry an co likely to go for it? An if not then what was that fucker chatting about? It was like abaa 5 weeks ago a reckon. Cant remember the fucking guys name that said it. I think it was like sunday footie where they sit of stools and chat shit.

There's not a snowflake's chance in Hell that Henry would fetch Rafa in. Rafa's history of wanting total control just doesn't square with the DOF model which FSG have chosen to run with, and he's far too stubborn to change his ways now or in the future IMO. Given also that Henry said in a recent interview on lfc.tv that he and his people are here for the long term, I'd say that leaves Rafa's chances of getting the job back somewhere South of nil.

Well played Neil! 😉

With a DOF, with no palace intrigue, with some lessons learned (humility), and with a good budget and a DOF to stop him from signing Robbie Keane again, I would actually take him back after Kenny.

People forget the ordeal being a manager with us was, under G and H. And how he loved the club genuinely, and never was going to move on.

As Dion Fanning said, quite appropriately, Rafa kept the club together, kept the club going in a dysfunctional situation, and yes he did it imperfectly, but he kept us qualifying for the CL, which ultimately was keeping the whole show going...

When people slag off Rafa for speaking out too much, i think that they must conveniently forget that he was working under H&G.

Seriously, If he didn't engage in politics, he would have been dead in the water. They wanted Klinsmann FFS.

Who's he working for now again?

What's the excuse this time?

Why does there have to be a excuse for what he's said here? All he's stated basically is that he loves us and if given the chance he'd be more than happy to manage us again. Personally i take that as a compliment, as i would if GH or any of our ex players said the same. Anyways he's got no chance of getting the job, so i don't know why you all get so worked up about it.

One thing is for certain though, it was a stupid call to replace him with Roy.

We'll just have to accept that some people don't like Roffa,

Those folks seem to be frustrated for all his talents, he didn't deliver as he should have
Those folks seem to feel he had enough money to spend
That he politicked too much...

Me? I agree with all that, I think he had no choice with number three, but I can't forget how he brought us back into the Elite again from also rans. For me, he brought great progress, but definitely not perfection. But he did enough to merit great respect.

He was a weird arl twat but i like the fucker like. He's sound really. Bit mad. Bit of a tit. But SOUND.

RAFA IS SOUND.

A number of good posters, whom I like and whose views I respect, seem to be seriously suggesting that Rafa - whom I defended longer than most - could work with a DOF. I respectfully but totally disagree. Compromise has never been the man's middle name and I'm afraid I don't believe for one single second that such a combo could ever work.
