He doesn't score often , but when he does it's usually important.

3 goals this season , two of them being late winners in important games. The derby winner came during a tricky period for us and it seemed to spur us on into the second half of the season.

Then with the season on the line tonight he comes up big with a nice headed winner

Yep. We've been pretty lucky in that regard. Next season we'll have Brewster instead & hopefully he'll be able to make an impact & get some goals, meaning we'll have anoyherr option too, cos sturridge hasn't really been a great option.

.....and late on.

I was livid he didn’t take the ball down the line in stoppage time.

But what can you say, he has gotten us 6 pts this season.

Superb but I’d still sell him in the summer

Yeah he deserves a contract, but with Brewster coming in next season it could be a missed opportunity to get some top quality competition in for Bobby.

I haven't seen Brewster play, but if he's more Solanke than Michael Owen we could be in trouble.

Firmino
Origi
Brewster

Looks a bit late for that central striking option still.

If Klopp and the club thinks Brewster deserves his chance then I think it's the right way to go. I do think talented Academy needs to be given a path to the senior squad.

Both Mane and Salah have played up front from time to time this season and we've won enough matches with them starting there. So we do have options.

I'm talking about that central striking role, though. We're clearly thin there, as evidenced by the game in Spain last week

The level drops drastically outside of our Fab3.

Scoring some flukey goals doesn't hide that deficiency.

We need some proper backups for the front 3, at least 1 addition this summer.

Generally they haven't been flukey goals. There've been too many for that to apply. Under Klopp we don't crumble late on as we used to, and that's no accident

We do need more quality options up front though.

There's been plenty of times where we're overly reliant on one or in better times, two players. We now have three great forwards. It'd be great to have four/five, but having three top class forwards is miles ahead of anything we've had for 20 years if not a lot more than that.

True as far as it goes, but I maintain we still need more, especially given that we almost always play three up front.

Yes we have been fortunate with injuries.

If our injury situation today happened in Nov-Dec, with both Mo and Bobby out for 2-3 weeks or more, the title race would have ended in Feb.

Brewster hopefully is the proper back up that we need.

I think we do have the option of playing Shaq in the wide right position to free up Salah to play up top. He should have played or least come on in Spain.

Agree about playing Shaqiri in the first leg. Less sure about playing Salah centrally - he's too good a player not to "do a job" there, but I don't think it's his best position and I'd prefer that to be a last resort plan B in case of injury etc.

We obviously don't have anyone in Aguero's class to play up top. If there was one available in the Summer and we had a chance to get him, we should go for it.

City's back up is Jesus and I don't think Salah nor Mane is any worst when they've been asked to play there. It's not their best position I agree.

I want a David Silva or a De Bruyne of our own to take our attack to the next level.

Not sure I understand how you can hold both those views at once! If it's not their best position, how can they be no worse there?

I meant as options for playing up top, they're no worse than City's option of playing Jesus.

Understood, but I'd still prefer us to fetch in at least one more player for whom the role is a natural one, even if Brewster is going to be one option there.

Reddit tells me the correct titles for this thread would be:

Big Dick Origi

or my preferred option:

Big Cock Divock

haven't checked data:
[article]Yesterday was Origi's 25th goal for Liverpool in 95 appearances.
Only 41 of those have been starts, the other 54 off the bench.
No penalties either.
Not a bad record at all.[/article]

He’s not good enough a player if we want to keep competing at the highest level

It's a strange one. I don't know what we should do with him. He is apparently behind Wijnaldum as a striker in the CL Semi-final, however, he is developing a habit for scoring important goals off the bench and doing everything that can be expected of him, and more, in his limited minutes he gets. I've never been one to write him off. He's got a lot of desirable attributes and has time on his side, but I would like to see Klopp have some sort of plan for him. This is why we need to improve in the domestic cup competitions and help develop the likes of Origi.

I agree with Jules. We certainly should be looking at another striking/forward option this summer. For a variety of reasons,Ox, Shaqiri, Lallana, Origi and Brewster aren't close enough as a like-for-like with our preferred front three. Not finding the funds for Aubemeyang when he was available was a strange oversight, IMO. It's easy to say now he's adapted to the Premier League and scoring for fun, but I'd argue he was extremely likely to adapt well and also knew Klopp's style inside out. I'm not sure who the answer is now.
