Everyone I know just got a $4200 check, and is going to receive $300 a month per child, the first assured child income scheme ever to occur in the us, if only temporarily for a year. It's a program they want to extend though.
Now, not only do I think looking at your bank account is a dumb and capricious way of evaluating much of anything, bar "can I afford that amplifier" it's improved massively already for everyone poor to middle class.
I'm not in favor of this sort of printing of money (in stimulus, not for childcare). I'd prefer a massive infrastructure spending spree ala the wpa. The effects of that spending enhanced the country for decades. Setting aside the job creating economics of it, this weekend I walked on miles of wpa pavements, walked down a huge wpa park, and along a strong wpa seawall. It's a hundred years ago now, and we are still enjoying the benefit.
But, if you are going to print money, because the government is broken and partisan and dumb, and it's easy to achieve, yep, looks like I'm in favor of saddling my kids with debt that benefited poor people who couldn't eat, and middle class people struggling to get ahead, rather than do what trump did, and piss it all away on tax relief for billionaires.
