In America, the balance is skewed towards too little socialism – the only advanced country with no universal healthcare, no parental leave, a pitiful minimum wage, awful public transportation etc. All Trump and his enablers did was purposely exacerbate the already skyrocketing inequality, which would have eventually resulted in complete stratification of society into halves and have-nots and the death of democracy (because democracy is a side-effect of a thriving middle class). I suspect for Murdochs and their ilk it's the death of democracy that is their ultimate goal and prize.
Which might not even be legally possible - so even if he does it’d go straight to court.
I’m not sure even a Trump selected SCOTUS would wave through the ability of any sitting President to Pre-emptively pardon themselves of potential crime committed either before or during office.
I think I read somewhere that there’s a ruling from the 1800’s, when this was last considered, that a pre-emptive self-pardon equates to an admission of guilt.
I will miss her, but she is detached from reality. The violence is not a protest, it's a reaction to them losing money. Money they use to provide for their god damn families. It's not complicated. They reasonably believe they are losing that money because of fraud and unconstitutional electoral processes. All they wanted and requested was for that to be investigated and remedied. It's their money at stake. Something the establishment will never relate to. Nor will the lovely Kayleigh or Trump ever relate to it. Which is why they so nonchalantly call for peace.
The reaction to these people has literally been you lost money, we don't give a fuck if it was fair or free, because it's your money, so shut up and hand it over. Like seriously, what fantasy land has the fake news convinced you of where that won't end violently?
That's a disagreement I can happily tolerate and resolve. It's the disagreement that should be occuring between the rural and urban citizens instead of the pointless crap they spew today.

I think you’re misjudging a lot of the Trump support base. I don’t think they’re looking at this from as pure an economic basis as you are.
For all Trump’s idiocy - he can sell shit to anyone, he knows how to work an audience better than anyone that’s properly active in US politics and he pushes buttons more effectively than anyone I think I’ve come across.
The problem is - I don’t think economics will solve the issues that have led America to where it is.

Seems to be a lot of talk this morning that Trump’s done for politically - and some pressure on him to resign to avoid the ignominy of being removed by impeachment or Amendment 25’d due to mental incapacity.
I think Biden’s response has been made to be understated, Statesmanlike, reserved - because he needs to be the one calming things down - not ramping things up.
Now that a cop has died from his injuries, removing Trump early might get a bit more real.

I don’t think he should be charged with it by the way- but I’m nice like that.
Maybe someone should sign an affidavit saying they thinks he’s mentally unstable, present it to court and we can demand full access to all his health records and communications over the last few months - spend some time digging around, going through the fine detail - see if there’s anything to support the claims.
After all - it’s the only way to be sure he isn’t mentally unstable after all isn’t it?
