I hate diving as you know, but that was a fucking brilliant one.
Second best ive seen for dive technique.
The best was an Owen one for England.
Cant remember who against though.

Can you teach good diving, or is in innate? Worth bringing in a diving choreographer? If its the difference between 5th place and Champions League....

The 2 against Argentina were pretty handy.

Shearer nailed it on MOTD there about the pen today, Keepers are asking for it when they go flying in like that miles away from the ball, in the past regardless if it was or wasn't a penalty Suarez would of used theatrics there and not got given it, that was the perfect way to go down there from him today, just clever play by him, i would of been pissed off if he hadn't gone down.

Diving is all a bit meh, as long as it doesn't cost us fuck it, it would be so easy to get rid of most of it with retrospective bans but that doesn't look like it will happen any time soon, all you need is a panel of 4/5 ex pros to sort it out, then start throwing the bans out.

I dived once in a Sunday League match with the score 2-2 with 5/6 minutes left, it was one of those games where it was pissing down playing in terrible conditions.

Got passed the ball to left hand side of 18 yard box, controlled, saw the defender coming for a sliding tackle a mile off so just toed it past him and fell over him, nothing fancy, just fell, ref gave the penalty and we won 3-2, we won the league by a point that season with the last kick (header) of the last game, Aguero style, good days, bout 13 years ago that.

I hate diving and if you dont care when our players do it then you cant say shit when other teams do it to us

Which incident are you referring to? Suarez wasnt a dive. You can see Guzan making contact with him.

If he went down without contact - dive.
But as long as he reaches the ball before the keeper and goes down by contact its very clever play by Suarez.
Not diving. Its a big difference imho.
Young dives. This wasnt. Fowler, Lineker and Shearer said the same thing.

Layang Layang a few years ago, absolute magic :

Eh? What did I miss ?

It's no different to fouling someone on purpose which happens all the time and is considered "taking one for the team".

People see that differently though. I don't know why but it's considered more manly or something to kick someone on purpose.

Yup. Cheating is cool as long as you cheat like a man and not some foreign ponce.

Look at John Terry, he made a name for himself being the "no guts, no glory" type. Even though he is just a dirty bastard.

Interesting to hear that MOTD had a poll on the Suarez incident. Don't seem to remember them having that for any other player...

Of course lets also forget the fact that Suarez had been kicked shitless for the last month by so called English style CBs without complaint and indeed with little punishment for the kickers.

But yeah let's focus on the time he may have done something wrong. It's laughable it really is.

He didn't dive imo. Not in a way to cheat anyway. He may have just about avoided proper contact but had he not do that he'd have gone flying over the keeper & possibly injured either of them.

It was a definite penalty regardless.

I also think it was a penalty. There was contact and the ref saw it and gave a penalty immediately.
Looks like the media guys can't see the "new Suarez" - the one who shits goals and leads his team. They miss the "old Suarez" whim they could slate.

It was significant that there was hardly any protest and the keeper just looked fatalistic about it. Lineker got penalties for less than that. If there's any contact at all, it's a pen, and there was and it was.

I saw a post-match video analysis where it seemed clear that the keeper's knee made contact with Suarez' ankle.

Any pundit who says a player 'went down too easily' should have a bucket of fish guts poured over his head. A player either should have gone down or shouldn't have gone down. You don't go down 'too easily,' any more than you go down 'too difficultly.' Some legitimate pens are very clear cut, others aren't. The latter are just slight, not wrong. You don't mind when it's your team, you hate it when it's the other team, but that's a subjective issue. Whenever a keeper goes out and makes contact, however faint, with a player moving at speed, it's a pen.

When he was flattened by an elbow to the side of his head yesterday, the commentator suggested that his reputation went against him for not even getting a freekick

He got kicked in arse if I remember correctly.

It wasnt a dive. End off.

The poll thing was absurd as both Lineker and Shearer both said it was a penalty in the studio aswell

The biggest controversy in that game shouldn't be the penalty but Bacuna's blatant play-acting to try and get Sturridge dismissed. Sturridge was rash with that swing and could've been gotten intro trouble for it, but Bacuna went down clutching his face. Disgraceful.

Eggnogs against Birmingham was boss too.
We love to dive against the midlanders.

Bacuna is not a big enough name for a controversy.

I liked N'Gog's against Portsmouth because it was both awful and wonderful at the same time.
