Gubba is the worst at pretending he's commentating live when in fact he's just adding a voice track to a recording. he keeps going: 'Ohhhh! He looks like he's - oohhhhh!! - he's scored!' Hopeless.
There was an Irish commentator from a good few years back called Philip Greene that some of the (older)Irish lads might remember.
He was notorious for his commentry drifting off from the game to the point where he neglected to report significant incidents including on one occasion a goal.
On another occasion he couldn't remember the name for doves so he referred to a release of the "pigeons of peace" before the game. I cannot personally verify if this is true but I don't believe that it is urban myth.
Absolute legend.
One guy I like is Ian Darke, he's a jack of all trades on Sky. He does darts, rugby and football. Possibly more.
He never gets the big games but he does get the odd Liverpool match and he does a lot of Football League matches.
I still like Martin Tyler, and I agree that David Pleat knows his football.
By far the worst commentator is John Champion, they have him on the ESPN soccernet podcast ever once in a while and last week he basically admitted that he hates Rafa because he is "cold" to the media :🙂
Absolute twat who is butt hurt because Rafa won't rub his belly like some of the other "top managers" in England.
Talking of absolute tw@ts, Lawrenson and Alan Green were just in a discussion about Ferguson and referees, and wouldn't you know it, Lawrenson put all the blame on the referees. What a complete and utter dishrag that guy is.
I reiterate my hatred of Jon Champion. His chronic sarkiness, allied to his desperate need to make the irrelevant seem astoundingly relevant (so what of someone is called Benitez, you idiot?), pushes his naffness up to 11 of the naffometer.

He never stopped, did he? That stupid 'lucky general' tag. Idiot. My god he's always been irritating but THAT was 90 minutes of HELLISHLY biased commentary delivered with such sickening glee I could've punched him.

Agreed he was making my ears bleed. If you didn't see my earlier post he basically admitted that he can't stand Rafa because of the way Rafa deals with the media.
Also loved how cheery he was to get to use the bit about Benitez (the B'Ham striker) delivering a blow to the other Benitez. You could tell he had been holstering that one for a while and was all to giddy to shout about it. Complete and utter charlie uniform november tango.
Did anyone notice Chris Waddle complaining about Yossi being played wide right as opposed to Kuyt (who is better out there) in the first half, only to then say in the second half that Yossi should be playing wide right to take Ridgewell to task?
It niggles to see Keegan moaning in his usual capricious way on ESPN. If it was Newcastle he'd be straining to see the positive. Molby's just been on LFCTV taking most of his comments apart. I know it's all frivolous stuff but god it gets you down at times like this!

Sky's Sunday Supplement Discussion: 'Players that Rafa Benitez should never have let go'
"Nicolas Anelka"
The year Anelka left Liverpool ... 2002. The year BenÃtez took charge ... 2004.

That's the thing about those hacks. It's not so much any bias they might have, but the obvious lack of real interest in the club, so that they repeatedly get basic facts wrong. Even Maddock is now starting to attack his London colleagues because they are so inaccurate!!

Anyone remember Bill Bothwell.?I think he was from Liverpool but anyway he always covered Liverpool matches

I thought he was Scottish, maybe I misremembered that, but he was a reassuring presence.
Aussie guy called Andy Harper.... this guy comes up with the most retarded phrases every game, new ones every game.... but one cannot help but laugh haha.
The video below in particular is legendary amongst Aussie fans ... "LIKE A SPAWNING SALMON!!!"
I had to sit beside him at an Awards night last year, and the more pissed I and everyone else at the Table got, the more abuse Harper took. He eventually upped and walked off. He's a fucking tube.
My facourite piece of commentary recently was some bloke I'd never heard of during the Milan vs Madrid game... Real took a shot that went wide and he said:
"that could have been more difficult for Dida if it was on target".
