Benitez wanted in Madrid

if madrid are stupid enough to come calling then rafa will be off immediately imo. i'd love to see rafa try to be in control of everything there. he'd be lucky if he thinks he'd pick the team let alone transfers

Rafa would never take that job. The fact that they want to sack Pellegrini 2 months into his job says it all. Rafa has got a contract giving him more power than any other manager in the world, and people thinks he will go to a club where he wont even decide who is in the first XI? No chance....

I can't see Rafa getting the Madrid job anytime soon.

They want someone who can get a team playing attractive football, which is why Wenger was their top choice last summer.

This is how it is.

Rafa wants control over first team, and things that happen in the Reserves/B's and youth.

Twats like Florentino Perez will never give him control he wants.

At the club it's Perez, Valdano and Pardeza who are in charge of transfers etc.

My poor opinion on Perez was strengthened in the off-season when Real Madrid signed Alonso.

Perez came out in the media and insisted that "Xabi Alonso is not a special player".... the only reason they signed him was because Jorge Valdano insisted he was a top player and crucial to Real Madrid.

This is the same clown who was responsible for the failings of the first Galactico era by not replacing Fernando Hierro, and selling Claude Makelele to Chelsea.

I think the exact quote by Perez was something along the lines of " Xabi wont sell shirts. So we wont go more than 20 million' or something to that effect. Also I think it is too early to be writing off that team. Once Ronaldo gets back there is too much attacking talent on the field to demolish most other teams in Laliga and Europe.

That was something he also said.

I can assure you 100% that he said "Alonso is not a special player".

Only reason Perez approved the deal was because there were calls to "Spansify" the squad.

Hence - sign Alonso, Arbeloa and Albiol.

That's not really how football works, thankfully.
