Benayoun hits out...

No no, don't forget keane was signed at the time when all bad things were Parry's fault. This was just before all bad things became Purslow's fault.

Benitez was so unlucky having two awful people in a row messing things up for him wasn't he? Well, three if you count the board at Valencia who he slagged off before he came here.

God this kind of thing makes me really dislike Rafa.

It's not the Liverpool way and sickens me.

Yossi could have been so much more.
Hahaha. So when Yossi and his agent were trying to bully the manager into giving him a greater part in the team, by spreading stories he was going to leave if he didn't get what he wanted two seasons ago, ARE the Liverpool way.

There's two sides to every story, it makes me laugh how many, just want to believe the person who speaks out as being the bearer of truth. The real truth is we will probably never know.

When the same things are said over and over by different players I would begin to notice.

Plus I've always seen Yossi as a class act so find him credible.

I guess you also believe Rafa did nothing wrong with Xabi or Keane or Riera?
Xabi underperformed for two years, Keane was shit, and Reira punched a under 18 player but of course that was Rafas fault.
Everyone bar Rafa knew Keane had to play in a 442 and every week.

Rafa ruined Keane no doubt about it.

I agree about Xabi's performance - however, that doesn't mean that you dangle him around openly. He cost us the player.

Keane was shit? Ok, for most of his Anfield career he struggled. But in the last month or so, he hit 3-4 goals and found himself on the bench after each game. Great job there by Rafa.

Riera ... Ah I wonder how many players we'd have lost of the years, of much higher calibre than Riera, had we treated each punch up as Rafa did. Was that even confirmed? When did it happen as Riera barely played the WHOLE of last year, and considering he was going with Yossi there (who's gash there), it said a lot about.

How about the fact Rafa didn't even put Yossi on the bench in the last game? You know, 'bye fans, bye lads'. Wait, he's never been an absolute prick like that - Riise probably deserved it too.

Is there anyone that really believes that Rafa hasn't run a number of players out of the club by treating them poorly?

Probably!

I don't think he treated them poorly to get rid of them, but I do think he treats players in a way that they'd feel hard done by.

The more relevant question is, does anyone on this board REALLY still want to talk about Rafa's role in the Keane transfer. Jesus.

yossi has gone and rafa has gone, so seriously, who cares.

in other news ed norton is confirmed not to be appearing in the avengers movie as bruce banner. now THAT is disasterous news 🙁

Keane was utterly Rafa's fault.

For buying him in the first place when he didn't really have a clear idea of what to do with him, for dropping him when he finally started to show some signs of improving form, and for selling him at a loss 6 months later and not lining up a proper replacement.

From start to finish, a fucking shambles
Rafa isn't without blame but he made it clear that he only wanted him if we signed Barry, yet Parry went ahead and signed him before the Barry deal was agreed. But even if we choose to ignore that point there was absolutely no way of knowing that he was suddenly going to become a quarter of the player he was the season before (unless you were physic Rosco). Spurs fans were gutted when we signed him (I shared a flat with two Spurs fans), and the majority of Liverpool fans on this website were delighted. In fact numerous fans were praising Rafa for spending his budget on a couple of big budget signing instead of the usual strategy of 3 squad players and one big player. Rafa had a clear view of what he wanted him for but he was signed outside of the plan, granted Rafa did drop him when he was improving but we are not privy to the training matches and it is entirely possible that Keane was still shit on the training ground.
Pretty much all of which is pure speculation, seasoned with a complete obliviousness to the fact that Keane was signed to play in a position that Gerrard had made his own and formed a devastating partnership with Torres.

It also completely ignores the fact that if what you suggest is true - that Keane was only to be signed if Barry was as well, this means either that Gerrard was dropped altogether (unthinkable) or that Mascher was dropped and Gerrard moved back into midfield to play with Barry (perhaps not unthinkable, but daft nonetheless) and Xabi was dropped (stoopid).

In short, it makes no fucking sense whatsoever, and is either clearly a load of bollocks, or Rafa was even more mental than anybody could have possibly imagined
