So I gather Huang is an organiser rather the money man himself.

Who does he represent though, and how big are their wallets?
Who knows, but here's a little more info.

Adrian Cheng (Huang's partner) is the grandson of Cheng Yu-tung, who is worth around $7b.

I cannot trust Chinamen especially when they are from China! Shady.

Just a hunch.

Do you know normally how many sons and daughters a Chinaman has (not to mention how many wives & mistresses) before a grandson can sniff at his grandpa's fortune?

Considering that he runs a number of the dynasties companies at present (and in effect works for his grandfather), who's to say that he won't bring with him the families financial backing?

I've decided to be a cynic of that ol cynicism, and allow myself to be a tiny bit excited.....it has been due that bloody long.

Well they do have serious money. However we need ridiculous money.

A little bit of googling the names and already there are a few clues about how this will go down.

1. Don't expect any money from Cheng's family to be involved.

2. Cheng previously worked at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse.

3. He's a Harvard Graduate. Now I've obviously never been to Harvard, but I was taught by someone who lectured on the MBA course there for years (Professor Anthony Hourihan). These lads practice what they preach, and one thing they like there is leveraged buyouts.

4. As for Huang :

Having shown a flair for languages, he studied economics and finance at New York's Columbia University before working at the New York Stock Exchange, where, according to the newspaper Economic Observer, he dealt primarily with investors from Japan and the Chinese-speaking world. He left in 1991 to work as a private financial adviser, building up a client list among mainland Chinese investors, the paper said.

Very similar.

The difference between this pair and the current pair is a bit like the difference between Houllier and Rafa.

A little bit more on Cheng :

There are still other initiatives that Adrian is juggling. As head of New World Strategic Investments, the conglomerate's private equity arm set up in August 2007, he is in charge of investing up to $1.2 billion in the next seven years. So far his group has picked up stakes in Chinese mining outfit Xinxin Mining Industry; Well Metro group, a subsidiary of Hembly international holdings, which distributes such brands as Siley, Lotto and Moschino in China; and underground mall developer Renhe Commercial Holdings. The latter was one of the only companies to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange last fall, ten months after New World's investment, but it raised $435 million, well below the $1 billion-plus it had originally sought.

We can only dream about getting a Mansour or Abramovich, who effectively treat their clubs as expensive toys.
Whoever ends up buying us will almost certainly be of the leveraged buyout type, looking to make a profit in the not-too-distant future.
That may not be as bad as it sounds though.

If we get a stadium.

New World Strategic Investment's General Strategy according to their website:

"As the Group's strategic business segment focusing on direct investment operation, NWSI follows a sophisticated investment approach in managing our funds efficiently and carefully. Our investment strategic framework features a strict selection process and risk assessment, a clear investment strategy, active involvement in post-investment management, supervision, preparation of listing work and synergies with members of New World Group, and a mutually beneficial exit plan.

We target companies which are still at the pre-IPO stage, and have huge market potential, excellent management team, a great development strategy and strong competitive advantages in the respective sector.

The selection process involves rigorous evaluation, risk assessment and thorough due diligence, and we will provide the selected enterprise with an appropriate financing package that best suits its needs in relation to its development. "

Having these Chinese in charge sounds akin to renouncing Satan for Lucifer.
There's unlikely to be an ideal way out of the current situation, the worry is too many people want rid of the Yanks so bad that they won't look at the newcomers too closely. Thus repeating the same mistakes last time around.

Hmmm.

TBH, I'd take another leveraged buyout if it guaranteed funds for the stadium & players until the stadium is built.

Lets face it, that's a 100% better than where we are now, & a billionaire unheard of popping up to make us his plaything aint likely at all, so it's our best chance.

They HAVE to have the cash, or assers held as loan collateral, to invest in stadia & squad though, or no deal.

We've not got any say in the matter, so whether or not a mistake is made seems irrelevant.

Whoever comes in COULD be worse than what we have.
However with Martin Broughton as chairman and Purslow as director I think that is very unlikely.
I cant imagine these people will do a worse job than Moores and Parry.
