Just a few takes from the night:

Giggs summarizing the game with "I think we had more chances than them." Classy Ryan. 😉

I think I never saw a team try to defend a 2-0 deficit in a CL Final... Their benched strikers costs more than the whole Barca team.. And still fergie felt it was a gamble to start second half with 2 up front.. Even though Tevez never was nowhere near their half...

United fans arouns seems fairly happy with their players being gracious in defeat.. Thats at least something to take from a CL final where they produced appr 0 shots at goal, and looked fairly happy with the contribution..

This is the second time in a few months they have been undressed, outplayed and made a laghing stock. ;D

Gullit made a valid point for once as well. After the game Fergie said Giggs was playing too far forward. Well how come not one person from the United bench told Giggs this for the entire 90 minutes?

Winning the league 3 times on the trot is worthless as long as you don't retain the CL for the first time in 20-odd years. Laughing stock indeed.

Here's the icing on the cake!

I knicked it from YNWA

Apparently, there’s a football match on tonight. We’re not watching it, John Terry and Petr Cech aren’t watching it. Many Chelsea fans won't be watching it. All with good reason.

Boycott it. Go and watch The Apprentice, or Britain’s Got Talent. Go to the pub and socialise with your mates. Do your homework. Or even spend some time talking to your other half.

We’ll be back around midnight BST. In the meantime ClubCFCnet.com is open as usual.

UEFA, Michel Platini, the unaccountable referee, the media and their institutionalised favouritism.

IT'S A DISGRACE

Cup football, bad day in the office for the lads. Better team on the night won. Fair play, Barca. Congrats.

This has been a wonderful season as far as I'm concerned. No complaints.

Me thinks you wouldn't quite as dismissive of the Champions League last season.

'We only had 10 minutes and then we never found ourselves again. We were not well, the tactics were not good and everything went wrong."

Ronaldo not sure he'll stay with Man United

ROME (AP) -Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United became uncertain again when he wouldn't say whether he will remain with the English champions next season.

When asked after United's 2-0 loss to Barcelona in the Champions League final whether he would be at Old Trafford next season, the reigning world player of the year said: "I don't know.''

Real Madrid has been trying to obtain the 24-year-old Portuguese winger for nearly two seasons and former president Florentino Perez is on the verge of heading the club again.

A lifelong Madrid fan, has three seasons remaining on his current contract and has said he'd like to play for Real Madrid at some point. United manager Alex Ferguson has labeled Real Madrid "a mob'' for repeatedly trying to get Ronaldo to make a move.

Perez, responsible for bringing Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham to Real Madrid during his six year tenure, has said he is ready to spend three years' worth of money on players this summer alone.

Ronaldo nearly scored in the second minute of Wednesday night's loss and while he had six shots, he became less of a factor in the second half.

"Everything went wrong,'' Ronaldo said. "We didn't control the game and we lost. I think Barcelona played better than us and they deserved to win.''

Man United didn't respond to the challenge.

I fel something was missing during the game. Now I realize it's the CFC fans who were missing!
You did punish Europe by not watching the game - what a revenge!

Delighted. An absolutely wonderful wonderful result, chastening. To see Fergies ego so totally smashed after such confidence .... well what a tonic for the soul.

Tolerating, even encouraging, Cunts like Ronaldo and Rooney is all well and good for what they bring to a team but they also take away. When you allow that kind of shit personality to be a feature of your side eventually you just lack class and that costs you spirit. Deep down Man Utd play for the wrong fucking reasons.

They play for glory.
They play to extend their own egos.

They did not fucking show at all last night, not at all, and they GOT FUCKED, whats more they deserved to GET FUCKED because they actually are cunts.

Liverpool may well have lost if we had played last night but we would definitely have shown up and given everything. Man Utd gave nothing because they are not about giving pleasure they are about recieving plaudits. Fuck them.

I had got the feeling that Fergie wanted to retire after last night as the legend his ego insisted he became, for him to fail due to the exact same reason that he endeavoured to win, personal glory and ego, makes last night all the sweeter. Especially when you consider that he is an old man without that many opportunities left.

An old man without many opportunities left. I had to write that twice i loved it so much the first time.

Twenty years in the job and still tactically naive. Fuck Man U! Last nights result will forever remain an enduring shit stain on Fergies legacy and a wonderful reminder to every Manc that if you allow your own stadium to become a "theatre of dreams" and you allow yourselves to believe the hype and the shite then somewhere along the way the football gods will ensure that you get deservedly and properly fucked.

I fucking LOVED IT... Keegan style.

Yeah.. you can't take away from the fact that it's been a 'good' season for them.

We're all just glad it wasn't a great one. Lets be honest, they haven't played well enough this year for it to be a historical season. They just about won every game they played in this year.. and they were on the 'easy' side of the draw for the CL.
Winning the league is "great", no matter how many times you win it.
Still it was a great opportunity missed tonight by your lot. I mean you know full well how much it would have meant to finally be level with sides like Ajax and Bayern.
Getting to a final is always a "big chance", but you can't take anything for granted. We don't have a divine right to win football games let alone competitions, and on a not-very-spectacular season to finish as champions with a bonus of two additional minor trophies is something we could have only dreamed of not so long ago. How times have changed as LFC fans revel at us failing to win all 5 possible trophies in a season. I can understand your delight at our defeat tonight, but a little perspective is helpful here. This is going to be a great summer for me...time off football is well deserved.
I can't deny the fact that i am over the moon that you got your arses handed to you tonight. Especially after i had resigned myself to the fact that you'd win, due to Barca having 4 defenders ruled out for various reasons.

Fair play you won the league, but losing a game of this magnitude still must hurt.

Bang on Rafa.
