attention lee dixon:
still think alonso or masherano wouldn't get into the manu center midfield?

what a fucking dickhead of an opinion that was.
Please dont forget Keown, who is also a dickhead
Any time I think of Keown, I automatically think of what he said about Kuyt, that he should be going on and beating his man.

Tonight was quality, but jesus... Some of these posters are deluded... We are taunting Utd fans for 'Only winning the Premier League' and a few other small trophies?

Fucking hell... I seriously hope it was a WUM attempt.
Yup, they will wake up tomorrow and STILL be league champions, The other pots mean fuck all really, lets be honest. And although there is a great deal of joy to be had in tonights events, more would be had if we had our own trophy to crow about.

United are the ultimate flat track bullies and Fergie's tactics amounted to getting Ronaldo to shoot on sight

great side? no, but it works against the likes of Wigan.

Yeah.. you can't take away from the fact that it's been a 'good' season for them.

We're all just glad it wasn't a great one. Lets be honest, they haven't played well enough this year for it to be a historical season. They just about won every game they played in this year.. and they were on the 'easy' side of the draw for the CL.
Winning the league is "great", no matter how many times you win it.
Still it was a great opportunity missed tonight by your lot. I mean you know full well how much it would have meant to finally be level with sides like Ajax and Bayern.
Getting to a final is always a "big chance", but you can't take anything for granted. We don't have a divine right to win football games let alone competitions, and on a not-very-spectacular season to finish as champions with a bonus of two additional minor trophies is something we could have only dreamed of not so long ago. How times have changed as LFC fans revel at us failing to win all 5 possible trophies in a season. I can understand your delight at our defeat tonight, but a little perspective is helpful here. This is going to be a great summer for me...time off football is well deserved.
I can't deny the fact that i am over the moon that you got your arses handed to you tonight. Especially after i had resigned myself to the fact that you'd win, due to Barca having 4 defenders ruled out for various reasons.

Fair play you won the league, but losing a game of this magnitude still must hurt.

As it's so simple beating Wigan, I often wonder why the tactical geniuos that Benitez is doesn't adopt the methods.

Hard luck anyhow LVR.

Ferguson got his tactics wrong. Simple as.
It worked for him last year so he believed it would work again. That early Eto'o goal changed it all.

We blew it this year.. pure and simple. To beat United home and away, and still finish behind them is apalling. But hey, some will say it's great progress.. i'm not so sure anymore (could have been just a big missed opportunity on our part.. we'll know more next year).

That said, tonight's game made it a *bearable* summer for 'pool fans. At least we won't hear the press fawning over the 'greatness' of this United side for the next 3 months.

Hindsight and all... The early goal, against the run of play, was obviuosly a blow to the tactics of containing Barca. Too many players had an off day, or Guardiaola is a fucking tactical magician if you like. I don't really give a shite, as those superlatives are often media bullshit. People can have an off day even if they are on 120,000 a week. Shit happens, great season, coulad have been better, here's for a long summer. Happy days.

Yeah.. I was of the opinion that we made progress this year.. until today, when I saw a stat that said had we got the results we got against the top sides this year, in previous seasons, we would have won 3 titles of the last 6 seasons. So basically, the one year we did get the right results against the other top 4 sides, we blew it. The knowledge of that hurts more than the fact United won as they weren't *that* good this year (unlike in past seasons).

I'll be perfectly honest here. CL just doesn't have the same appeal as the PL for me. Fergie might prefer winning it, but fuck him. I've been scarred by not getting anywhere near winning it back in the late 70's and the entire 80's ,and therefore this is pretty much all I care about. All the rest is just a bonus. If I'm honest again, losing the 1983 Milk Cup final hurt a lot more, because getting to a cup final back in those days was a fucking miracle (and that was a proffesional vfoul by Grobelaar on McQueen!).

Of course they did. What do you expect me to say? That we're better and they only scored more goals?

Ronaldo is not a striker, that was the biggest mistake. Barce had a player who is a striker by trade in Eto'o and he punished them. Ronaldo has no composure to do the kind of thing he did. Berbaflop on the bench was pretty silly.
