Re Marsh going, it looks to impossible for the fans to tell if the coaching staff is any good, any views are usually based on rumours. I've never really liked pascoe, I'm not sure why, he could be ace. The last one that all rumours pointed to being ace was pako

Pascoe is by all accounts a really nice bloke, a great cheerer-upper, but certainly no tactical genius. Assistant managers seem to be there more for moral support than critical input these days. I've no doubt Pascoe is a rather good sounding board but that's about it. If someone with a bit of shrewdness, independent spirit and passion was brought in to replace Marsh it would help the set up enormously.

Yeah, I think the Ferguson example is apt, cos he used assistant managers for tactics & coaching a lot more than managers do now.

I've never really understood why a manager in this country feels the need to try to be jack of all trades, by separation of responsibilities it insulates them from ultimate blame a lot more than their current approach as well presumably being a lot easier to manage on a daily basis.

Surely we don't employ a bloke to cheer people up and be confidante, do we?

That'd be more mate than assistant. I'd have to be changing that.

Scapegoat.. ???

Though one can imagine you will see a few more heads roll over the next few weeks

Btw.. Sorry can't stay away.. This place is like crack....

Well Kenny was like that. He brought in Steve Clarke. But it seems the culture these days makes that harder to accept among fans if there's a struggle. If you're not babbling on about false nines etc some think you're clueless. Of course, they got what they wished for in the all coaching, all talking Rodgers, but at least a manager can replace a coach when there's a problem. Rodgers can't sack himself.

Pascoe rumoured to be next on the chop list. Wonder if we have a list of preferred personnel to replace these fellas.

Marsh was very much at fault for the Stoke game. Were BR and Pascoe managed to cover the mouth when discussing late in second half Marsh seemed to forget it completly. We cant have people like that onboard.....

I don't think I could name another 1st team coach for a premier league side?

Brian Kidd at man city? I know Chelsea have a bevvy of first team coaches but that's my extent of their knowledge.

With someone as supposedly as hands on as Rodgers, what does the first team coach actually do?

How can you have a first team coach and an assistant manager?

Jobs for the boys in some cases, I imagine

Quite a few actually. Those with 'First Team Coach' as title includes:

Arsenal - Boro Primorac
Aston Villa - Mark Robson
Crystal Palace - Ben Garner
Newcastle - Steve Stone
Tottenham - Miguel D'Agostino
Southampton - Jan Kluitenberg
Stoke - Eddie Niedzwiecki
Swansea - Alan Curtis
West Brom - Gerry Francis

Bournemouth - Simon Weatherstone
Norwich - Frankie McAvoy

Burnley - Tony Loughlan
QPR - Kevin Bond

Apparently it's Marsh, the goalkeeping coach and a couple of others to be announced. Part of the plans put in place was to bring in a mix of experienced backroom staff and people connected with the clubs past.

Achtberg??.. Yay!!

Hopefully Sami Hyppia is one of them coming in..

How would you feel about that, macca, given some of your past comments? 😉

It would be helpful at least in terms of presence. I've not seen much coaching success from him so far, but he'd carry a bit of moral authority about him.
