Back pain - Sciatica

I injured my lower back, probably a minor hernia, about two weeks ago. My sis who's a doctor prescribed some pain killers (Ibuprofen) and it helped but I still couldn't walk properly for about three days. The only way I could get around was by using a back brace.
One night while playing xbox I felt the urge to sneeze. Had my legs up on the couch and braced myself, because it hurts like hell when your nerves are all tangled up.
I sneezed and fuck me, it felt like someone drove a truck over my back.
About 30 minutes later, I suddenly felt that I could move my legs, without any real pain and I could walk.
I COULD WALK!!!
So after 3 days of getting around looking like the hunchback of notre dame I could suddenly walk upright, and all this from fucking sneezing.
But here's the problem, the pain is still there. I feel it on the left side of my lower back down to my thigh.
I found out that it probably is a pinched nerve that's causing the pain (Sciatica).

Anyway, has anyone experienced this and do you recommend any treatments?

Currently I'm able to do pretty much everything, played a five a side game three days ago. I feel a bit tense and I can't really run properly. It's still uncomfortable.
There's this "tingling/numbing" sensation that I feel sometimes when I lift my left leg from a sitting position.
