What are we doing with him?

Is he getting flogged?

Back-up for left wing?

Striker?

What? Has there been any noise out of either camp as to what's happening? Surely he must've tweeted "The gaffer spoke to me today and said he liked my rapping. Didn't mention the football though, but I'm happy anyway" or something?

It's strange he's not been mentioned, but they got to the final so I guess he's been on holiday since. Wouldn't be surprised if we started to hear stories soon.

i'd like to keep him. He plays in a couple of positions and i reckon he is the exact type of player who does need an arm round them. Hes progressively got worse since his arrival, whether thats down to an inability to adapt, or problems off field i don't know, but i'd like to see him get 1 more season to see how he performs with a different manager

Not that bovvered either way. I do think he has talent, so I won't much mind if we end up keeping him to see what Roy can make of him, BUT if we got a good offer for him I'd sooner have the money to spend on Roy's choice of player, especially a decent LB.

I'd like to have Babel on the bench in every game, coming on when we need a goal with 20 to play.

That's the only role he's ever excelled in.

I should think we'll find it hard to turn down the likely 9m bid from Birmingham.

he became a world cup finalist since their last 9m bid. id tell them to raise it. raise or fold.

If we do change to a more 4-4-2 like formation I'd like to see Babel kept as cover for Torres. He'll get plenty of game time and I think he'd cause teams some problems playing on the last shoulder. (provided he unserstands the offside rule)

while i agree in essence, i just feel he can improve with a manager who will support him rather than show him his faults

I'm torn.

If he was to leave I wouldn't be too disappointed as deep down I know he's cack. Yet if he stayed i'd still harbour some hope that he will be the next Henry.

Does he only have one year left on his contract.
If so, either extend his contract or sell. For me its sell.

I follow him on twitter. I haven't checked since yesterday morning because I'm travellling right now but all his tweets are very pro-Liverpool and he's chatting to fans a bit etc..

I'd give him a second chance but wouldn't be overly upset if he left, especially if we got a big fee.

Pretty much agree. This is probably our best chance to get an 8M+ fee for him but I also think he could surprise many with a different manager at the helm.

He doesnt know where to be on the pitch and what to do on the ball, which is a problem Roy giving him a hug isnt going to solve.

Wasn't he linked to a return to Ajax last season?

Cash + Rappin' Ryan Babel for Luis Suarez....

Yep, agree. He's had more than enough chances.

As I mentioned elsewhere for the front 5 positions we have : Gerrard, Maxi, Kuyt, Cole, Aquilani, Torres, Jovanovic, and probably Remy (or similar) so why do we need Babel again ? And just exactly when is he ever going to displace one of those ?

Sell 10M to Birmingham ? Done.

I think we will sell Babel and Riera. I just hope we are allowed to bring in a good wide player to replace them. We need plenty of good attacking options next season.

I've always liked or at least wanted to like Babel, but I'm struggling to see how he'll progress if he stays here. He needs to be playing week in, week out where the team will rely on him to have any hope of fulfilling some of that potential. There can surely be no point in him staying here for the odd cameo now and then... nothing will change.

If we do end up selling him and Riera, I'd like another pacey option brought in. Someone like Elia. Then we'd have quite a varied array of options.

just get fucking shut of the useless turd.

Brum is still an option for Babel but I have a feeling that if Roy keeps him, he may actually turn out to be the player we bought. ;D

Another vote for Elia. But he is now a much lower priority than one very good LB and a cracking DM to replace Masherano.

Keep and play him on the right wing for for the 1st 10 games.
[/quote]

Genius... keep him and play him in the one position we've actually got plenty of players for?
