I'm loathe to single out individuals, but - How come their 'performances' at the weekend didn't attract more laughs scrutiny from the Forum?

If Spearing, in his first game, can get a thread dedicated in his honour, then how did those two get away unscathed? They were fucking useless weren't they, or was I watching a different game?

It's been done before, hasn't it?

Spearing was fresh meat.

For what it's worth, Aurelio's defending was a fucking disgrace.

I didn't see the game, but my feelings on Aurelio's defensive qualities are well chronicled, and Babel is just Babel

regards

I didn't see much of the game in fairness but Aurelio's bound to be a bit rusty.

Insua's deserves to play against Lyon.

I'm too fed up with how shit we are.

Not arsed about talking about who was good bad or otherwise.

It was beyond pitiful. The 'speedy' Steed Malbranque made an utter cunt out of him. I actually don't mind Aurelio normally, but Saturday was truly dreadful. S'pose it didn't help having that fucking aberration of a footballer, Ryan Babel, playing in front of him, and kinda reinforces what Riera brings to the team from a defensive point of view.

I'd be stunned if Babel starts games for quite some time after that, eventually he's going to use up all his chances with Rafa. Fingers crossed anyway.

I agree with Ross it's getting monotonous, I suspect people on here think I am a pessimist, I'm not , just a realist.
I think deep down everyone, even the people pretending to be optimistic, know the truth.
We have a great team but a shite squad, and as such over a very long season have little chance of winning much.
The manager can't tinker with it to get anything out of it , there is nothing to tinker with.
How did it get so thin?
The only thing that could save us is if Aqualani is an instant success and we pick up some decent squad players in January including a decent striker along the lines of RVN that could do a job when needed.
The manager needs to take a bit of a punt on Pacheco, it seems to me he is the only one over the last couple of years, and possibly Nemeth (and that's another story), to look like he actually has a certain something
In a half decent squad Babel and Aurelio should be well down the pecking order

regards

Hmmm yeah, depressingly a lot of that is true.

Has Aurelio been good enough before?? ?? Has he?? ?? He's just a fucking average player. So don't be fucking surprise when he play BAD AGAIN. Fucking hell! What's there to critique anyway?

As for Babel, how many games has he got to start ahead of Reira?? He deserved his chance and he should play with Torres up front.

I was worried about Babel when Ajax fans said we had signed a big lemon. He has done very little to prove otherwise.

I think its time to move on and sell he just does not have the mentality.

Aurelio is still a good player , hes got quality its plain to see!

This is where we have to disagree Mista. Aurelio's not suited to Premiership. End of. He' injury prone where as Babel is still young and has not been given the opportunity to play regularly. He has the attributes to be some player.

I see your point Glock, but I think although Babel may have all the attributes, football is also 90% mental, hes not up to it.

Aurelios injuries have been sad for him, he should of been Brazilian RB for national team. I still think he shows his quality when fit.

Brazil's Right back?? He's not even good at left back and you expect him to play at right back?

What quality has he shown?? A free kick which goes to Row Z every fucking time he took it? Out of position at left back?? Poor heading ability? Poor in tackles? Is that all quality you think he has??? ?? ??

He's average, injury prone, slow and should be shipped back to Valencia together with Rafael. That's all i have to say about him.

Sorry i meant leftback obviously...

I think if he had had an injury free career he had the ability to win many caps for brazil, but he didnt so thats that.

Aurelio isn't up to speed yet, you can tell because he's missing his FKs by a yard or so, when normally he barely misses them.

Yeah..a couple of goals in 50 free kicks he took. Yeah he barely misses them.

babel was poor but so was everyone else, why single out anyone? seriously WHO made it out of that game with any credit? we stank the fucking place out. our slump is fucking alarming, 3 games now without a goal when we were scoring for fun previously.

Indeed and we have Manure at home next with Torres not 100% fit.

That was the point you dolt.

Commentator "And here's Fabio Aurelio to take, he has a reputation as a set piece specialist"
(shot curls artfully over the wall, looks threatening, misses the goal by 1m)
"Fabio Aureliooooo and just wide from the Brazilian"
(close up on Aurelio acting surprised and feeling unlucky)

aurelio's freekicks are so so but I think his corners are excellent, not his fault the majority of our team is largly shite in the air.

His corners were fucking woeful at the weekend though. How many hit the first man?

Regards Babel, no surprise you've jumped to his defence. Personally I thought most players were shite, but we've seen it all before with Babel, I don't understand why you feel the need to consistently jump to his defence, the fact you have to should tell you that he's regularly in for a bit of stick, and usually reasonably so.

The problem is Gerrard should be in the six yard box not taking them. Gerrard's good in the air, so does Torres.

agger is as well but this was his first start for ages. I thought it was very pleasing that skrtel rather than agger made way when rafa made his subs. here's hoping he (agger) starts tonight.

Skrtel has been very average this season. Lets hope Agger stays fit for the rest of the season. Its also a shame the Greek is out injured. We need a defender in January definitely.

the truth is our woes is because too many first teamers are struggling. I have no idea why our team always seems to struggle the season after flying high in the league. it happened after we finished second after a record breaking arsenal team by seven points (2003) and it happened after we finished 3rd (1 point behind manu with our highest ever prem points tally (until last season).

there is little depth to the squad but I don't see how that should make fuck all difference, we've played 8 league games not 20, it isn't fatigue that is hitting us it too many people being out of form. It always cracks me up the fringe is blamed for slumps, the fringe aren't the ones being picked week in week out and getting the full 90 minutes to effect the course of the game.

other than that I think to a man the team has been average/inconsistant.

Hmmm... and there was me thinking that was a carefully chosen tactic, utilised to deflect criticism: "Well everyone else was shite, so it doesn't matter".

The difference being you know there's more to come from the likes of Yossi, Kuyt and even Aurelio. With Babel that's far from a given.

if their is more to come then they should show it, before it's too late and I'm including everyone in that statement. our season is coming apart at the seems and it's not even nov. personally I think if the mancs turn us over at the weekend it's over for another year.
