Aston Villa vs Liverpool Sat (A) 3pm - League

Fuck the Villa.

It’s on DAZN, NBC sports gold and BEIN 2 (and probably 12) for those who access to such channels.

BBC want it both ways. Caption on a photo of Grealish says: "Jack Grealish, Villa's joint-leading scorer this season, is set to start after overcoming a minor injury" but the text says; "Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has a sore calf and may not be considered fit enough to start against Liverpool."

At the bottom it quotes Dean Smith as saying, "He's still a little bit sore but he believes he's in contention to start, and he wants to. The thing for me is to make a decision on whether he's fit enough to start - we're up against the current champions of Europe and you need all 11 players to be physically right to go and produce on the day."

I have a bad feeling about this one. Bit of a patched up squad with the Salah and Matip injuries, and I'm NEVER confident in any game Lovren is set to start.

Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson, Lallana, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
Subs: Adrian, Fabinho, Milner, Keita, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Origi.

No that would be by not maximising our chances against City.

You need to probability weight it. The chance of us beating city is far far less than the chance of us dropping points today, regardless of what we try to maximise.

This match today isn't gonna be decided by a DM, even one as talented as Fabinho, it's probably gonna be atritional & decided by how often we can break the lines or get in behind a stubborn defence.

Fabinho doesn't help with that, at least not directly, whereas he'll definitely be needed to help keep city at bay drive the tempo of the midfield next week.

I think it says a lot about AOC and Keita that Lallana is starting today.

If we had a back up right back and Milly didn't need to play on Wednesday, I reckon he would have started today.

Fair point. But I fully expect us to go 2-0 down and Fabinho to be forced to come on inside the first 20 minutes.
