It's a huge loss and a total game changer.

We're so weak in the air without VVD. Matip will break down in a few weeks and Gomez is in really poor form.

Let's see, but I'm not overly optimistic. After seeing Fabinho get absolutely dominated by Lewin for their first goal, it's hard to see him as much of an answer.

We'll have to make moves in January unless Koumeito or Williams are ready for the PL.

Silver lining time here.

Whilst we're undoubtedly stronger with him, we have developed some defensive issues.

This forces those to the fore. The rest of the defence have to relearn the basics that he does & covers for everyone usually.

It also means that teams may well be encouraged to attack more, which, let's face it, is when we usually play our best football (villa result the exception proving the rule!).

There's also the chance we see at least a partial return to that 'we'll score one more than you' brand of football, only with the greater level of ball retention & protection that our now experienced squad gives us, as well as Thiago offering that world class ability in the middle of the pitch, being able to make any pass & give us time & space.

Thing is, we've still got Alisson, Robbo, Trent, Fabinho, Hendo, Thiago, Salah, Mane.

It's still a great team. Maybe it doesn't blow the rest away like we did with VVD, but we're still probably the best in the league.

Doesn't Matter anyway...

Season wont finish due to the impending End of Days...

See you all on the other side 😉

If that's what actually happened I fully agree, but I have a hunch they DID see it, got it grievously wrong and are now trying to cover their tracks by doing a Wenger.

Even if it was looked at the gross incompetence line still stands.

Not just from the obvious defensive point of view, we lose a dimension going forward with them diagonals he hits Mo and Mane with. Literally go from defence to attack in an instant.

The only other CB at that was good at this was Lovren..

That being Said.. Thiago would fill that gap from Deep Midfield and fabs is not shy either with the occasional long diagonal balls...

When it rains...

Fake.. from June when his season was cut short.. which was also in the Merseyside derby

'Liverpool defender Joel Matip will miss the rest of the season due to a foot injury sustained in the Merseyside derby. The 28-year-old came off during the second half of the 0-0 draw with Everton on June 21st and is now set to miss the remaining seven Premier League games for the newly-crowned champions'

Matip had a scan after complaining about a leg inury, nothing was found, as per Joyce.
Doubt Klopp will risk him in our next game, but God knows how we will make it to January with Matip as one of the two central defenders we have to rely upon...

No probably about it, we are.
They all have heart, they will fight on.

Bad time to be letting Gini leave.

We should go Mourinho football - sitting back like cunts, then countering them into oblivion.

I think it would be a mistake to defend deeper. IMHO the weaker the defence, the more attacking you should be. Defend in their half. Our defence now looks shaky at corners, and - so long as Adrian is in goal - uneasy playing out from the back, so be aggressive and stay high up the pitch.

The VAR team actually said post match that they didn't review the tackle - because VvD was off-side.

They've changed their tune. Quelle Surprise. It was 'noted'. By whom we'll never know, but one of the team decided it wasn't a red card offence in there official match report.
