Didn't we try and hijack his move to Arsenal late on? He would have been perfect either side of Torres or a replacement for Gerrard in the hole.

Whilst I do think he's gonna turn out to be a star, I do think at this very stage, he's a tad overrated. The one game at anfield was no doubt shown to prove his ability, but he'd hardly played many games for the gunners prior to that.
Don't get me wrong, he's a class player and could go on to become one of the best this season, but he needs to do a little more to be talked about like the way he has. He does remind me of a better version of Pires though. He's scores goals, has a very accurate shot and has a brilliant footballing brain. I'd love to have him in our side, he might have been a lethal trio combination with gerrard and Torres.
Don't get me wrong, he's a class player and could go on to become one of the best this season, but he needs to do a little more to be talked about like the way he has. I'd have him over any left winger in the Prem. High praise seeing as he hasn't been here long.

I remember when he was being touted for 14m on here. Many on here didn't think he was worth it (at all). If we had bought him in January, we may have won the league (or at least stood a MUCH better chance).
Boat well and truly missed. We still need one more Arshavin-type to add to Gerrard and Torres. (and by Arshavin type, i mean someone capable of playing anywhere in the front 3 AM positions.)
I honestly can't believe after all the talk towards the tail end of the season last year, we're still talking about (and relying on) the fitness of Gerrard and Torres.
