Suck the joy out of my fucking arse.

I dunno.
I don't see myself as particularly curmudgeonly but as much as I enjoy the attacking football we play the real joy for me is actually winning stuff.
Of course utopia (copyright Roy Hodgson ) would be winning things playing excellerating football, I would accept Mourinho style boredom if it meant winning titles and trophies

We were caught out last night by some individual errors. It wasn't anything to do with our philosophy. Fuck Maureen's football. It's cowardly and shit.

It is indeed but I think you are missing my point.
I love the joyous football we play but it has to be a means to end and that end is winning.
I care less about football philosophies and more about winning.

Has anyone mentioned that it was Henderson's fault that we conceded three in five minutes last night?

Raz surely did. He has a checklist of embittered denunciations that encompasses everyone from the manager and coaching staff to the first XI, but injured players can be included as and when required.

Yeah, but it's not actually a case of one or the other. If we started playing more defensively, we would probably win/lose about the same amount, and fall short anyway. If we're not going to win stuff, which lets be honest we're not, I'd rather do it our way and at least have a rollercoaster, than the tedious Mourinho way.

Here's an idea: play like bosses in attack and go 2 or 3 goals up, then learn how to see out that lead. It's a bit 'out there', I know.

This team is the biggest gang of bottlers I've ever seen play football.

If I stopped believing and wanting us to win trophies then I think I would stop watching us all together.
As I keep saying, I love the football that we play but it isn't and can never be a replacement in my book for winning

As I think I've mentioned before .. does anyone actually give a shit about the LC and FAC now (except for a great day out in the final/semis) ? 3 FACs in the last decade haven't done anything for Arsenal either in terms of prestige or attracting better players. There are now only two trophies that matter and we're likely closer to the CL than we are the PL. However reverting to a Mourinho style football we'd be highly unlikely to get close to either of them, at least we have an outsiders chance in the CL.

Of course I want to win stuff. But there is a world of difference between that and saying we suck the joy out of football. I just can't understand that thinking at all. In the Hodgson period we had no hope of winning trophies, but also had a shit team that was being filled out with journeymen like Poulson and Konchesky. That sucked the joy out of things. But now we have hope, and we play scintillating footy. Yes, there are lessons to learn across the team (and the management), but do I see the potential for us winning trophies in the next few years? Yes, yes I do.

Really? So you’ve never watched Arsenal for the past couple of seasons?

I'm surprised that newly-bearded bourgeois wimp Walcott didn't attract more reactions - he looked as if he'd just escaped from Ben Gunn's cave.

You of all people should know better than to listen to Andy's hyperbole.😉
I too am hopeful of winning things and how wonderful that will be if it is by playing scintillating football.
Conversely it is because of that very same football that we frustrate at times as it is clear that we are tantalizingly close to being genuine contenders yet we somehow find a way to shoot ourselves in the foot on too many occasions.
It's like the old saying " It's the hope that kills ya"

To say 'we take the fun out of football' is fucking madness. It's a rollercoaster watching us, but to say this team doesn't provide moments of genuine joy– well, football isn't the game for you.

Quite Doc. What a game it was. I'm furious at our inability to rely on our defense, but for the neutral that was pure football.

If we were a team that had no genuine chance to win trophies, I would love the way we play and love being a he "entertainers" of the league

But the fact we should be competing for trophies take the sheen off the attack. Yes I love us at our best, but you know we're one moment away from a complete collapse.

Has there ever been a team who throws away 2-3 goal advantages as frequently as we do?

Three things:
1) Two individual errors cost us that game - Gomez I'll chalk to inexperience but it changed momentum drastically. Ming's mistake was terrible. He needs to be shipped out at season's end, though I'm tempted to go into the "Karius until season's end" camp.
2) Mane really needs to find his mojo ...
3) Robertson had his weakest game to date - but overall, I still think he should be our starting LB until season's end ... He's got potential imo.

Until Karius commits a major fuck-up and then you will go into the "bring Mignolet back" camp! 😉

Nah, Ming is finished here - he just doesn't have the ability to do the necessary consistently. He does helps us in some games, but we just expect some fuck up to come one way or another.

What makes you think he's finished? His manager thinks Moreno is boss.

Klopp’s taken two seasons to get what was a seriously shit attack when he came in into one of the best in the world. Not many managers can do that.
It’s up to him to now address the rest.
We were not in the position to be competing for trophies when he came in, with Gerrard Suarez, and Sterling gone.
We feel we should be competing for trophies because of the progress we’ve made under Klopp.
He’s not stupid. He was after a very good CB who we should have got we’re it not for some dickhead at the club leaking shit. He’s addressing the midfield by bringing Keita in (by all accounts we tried our best to bring him in this summer).
He did try to replace Mignolet but failed on that one with another bad goalkeeper coming in. The fact Ming plays ahead of his replacement, and the fact Ming’s still as shit as he was when Klopp came in must mean Klopp will be looking for alternatives.
Give it time. We’re heading in the right direction.
