There's a danger though of seeing the game through that perspective no matter what the specific details. The long shot, for example, wasn't the result of a brain fart. 9 times out of ten it misses, and doesn't swerve two or three times.
But it always tend to happen to us, more than a coincidence.

Its simple all of you - I knew when we went in at half time 1 nil up that this would probably happen, and it did. To be frankly honest - unless the team we face is totally shit (and by that I mean not one midfielder in the opposition should be in the league) then to assume we will win despite how good we looked in the first half makes any one of you as bad as our team was when it conceded those goals in the space of 5 minutes. By now you should all realize we are actually not safe unless we are four goals up - and the worse of it is that our players are not the issue on an individual ability level. No they are not no matter how badly you want to sign so and so. Don't assume that the so called 'fab' four can do their shit without the support of our midfield.
Our problems now cannot be resolved by buying player x - it is purely a matter of concentration during the game when we are up and keeping that concentration. I knew we were in shit as soon as they scored their first goal because we had reverted to arrogant globe trotters mode. Oh yes - that comes with having one mode of thought which is attack attack and attack - and being out of place at the wrong time and thinking that the opposition will remain shit for the rest of the game. This is all about mentality - really that is what it all comes down to. Gomez not thinking right for 2 occasions, and Ming getting it all wrong (that area we could resolve I guess with a better goal-keeper). They will have to learn from this - at least we did not lose the game but we have been here before right ?

Yeah - he is coming across as really lazy and fucking arrogant. Some of his passing was just lazy shit and also his attempts on goal and trying to keep the ball were pretty bad at times. It's a good thing Ron Atkinson was not commenting on him tonight.
I honestly don't know what Gomez was doing for that first goal. Utterly atrocious defending. Shame because he's been good recently.

He seems to have a problem with high balls. He misjudged them so often. The Lanzini goal comes to mind, and this. He seems to think the ball is deeper than it is otherwise why would he be backtracking.
Gomez won't do it again if he's a top class defender. That's his one mistake he's allowed as a relative rookie. Its one you probably get away with in EPL2, he waa punished there.
Ming on the other hand... I wouldn't be too disappointed if we sold him in the summer to any fucker.
Gomez has done that more than once. He's been terrific in some games and utterly fucking atrocious in a few, too.

And coming from our left. As you said it's not the first time we've conceded because of him mis-judging and there are other occasions which didn't result in a goal. Which is a shame because I thought he was superb up until that error. He needs to attack the ball rather than wait for it to arrive, you simply have to be pro-active in your own box. He's young and they'll work on that but it shouldn't be happening so often and they need to look at the reason for it.
