Arsenal charged by FA for allegedly breaching football agent regulations
• Charge relates to transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton
• Agent Alan Middleton also charged by the Football Association

Arsenal have been charged with allegedly breaching football agents regulations over the transfer of the defender Calum Chambers from Southampton, the Football Association has announced.

The FA said in a statement: “The charge is in relation to the transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton to Arsenal on 26 July 2014.

“Authorised agent Alan Middleton has also been charged for allegedly breaching The FA’s Football Agents Regulations in relation to the same transfer.

“Mr Middleton has until 17 June 2015 to respond to the charge.”

Arsenal have until 26 June 2015 after the club requested more time to respond to the charge.

Chambers, 20, signed for Arsenal for a fee of around £16m after impressing in 25 appearances for Southampton in the 2013-14 season.

t is understood that a complaint was made by a disgruntled third party and is believed to relate to the fee that was paid as part of the deal to the agent.

Sounds like possibly his old agent maybe?

Doesn't seem to be tapping up, Southampton made no complaint

And Chambers step dad works for Cassius Sports alongside Alan Middleton (who represented Chambers until last month)

It's maddening, the inconsistency. I'm all for such charges when they deserved, but they're never clearly explained, given that tapping up goes on to varying degrees throughout the game. We got ludicrously over-punished for the Ziege deal, while the very same things were going on with our own players. And it was Spurs - one of the worst culprits in recent years - that complained. I don't want to see the FA shrug its shoulders and ignore it all, but it really has to show much more consistency. At present it seems it's okay unless one club complains.

Ah okay. I just assumed it was that case without checking further; a couple of other reports has a bit more of the info that you mentioned.

There's feck all info!

I'm now guessing his step dad is the one complaining. Chambers has left that agency so maybe his cash cow has gone

I dont know why we have rules against tapping up nowadays as it happens so openly and brazenly. And it is impossible to prevent anyways.

Yes. Although they can at least penalise the most shameless ones, like Redknapp's car window routines.

I wonder what the monthly charges are for Sterling the bellend for his bellend agent. I bet these agents get a few quid. And then a fat cut of any signing on fees etc.
