Arda Turan wants to play for Liverpool

Via uefa.com's Q&A with fans (http://www.uefa.com/news/newsid=1457472.html)

Are you considering moving to another club in the future and if so what teams would be first priority for you?
Yasin Bektasoglu, Belfast, Northern Ireland

Arda: Of course I want to play abroad but it is our board's decision. As I always mention, Liverpool attracts me because of their tradition. In Europe, I am a Liverpool supporter, so if I go to play in Europe, I would like to play for them.

Sell Babel and Riera, sign Arda Turan for 12 mill and Petrov for free.

Much, MUCH better left wing options.

kjaer + arda turan + chamakh + jovanovic = would be a good summer for us.. but wont happen! 🙁

Take out Chamakh and thats realistic.

Yeah. We need a new LB as well though. And probably a new CM.

Haha now back to unrealistic!

I haven't seen a lot of Turan, but a general observation...

Could we PLEASE stop purchasing midfielders who are best described as "an attacking midfielder that can also play on the left".

We've got a striker in Babel that can also play largely shit on the left, an AM in Benayoun who upsets the whole balance of the team on the left, and is better on the right, an attacking midfielder that sits on the bench in Aquilani, a world class attacking midfielder that CAN actually play on the right in Gerrard, but is shit in the rare occasion he's on the left, and an honest to god left winger, that never plays for some reason Riera, especially now we bought Maxi, another AM, who can also zzzzzz.....

That's not even getting into the LBs, starting years ago, we've played there.

How about a fast, purpose built midfielder that will bring balance to the farce.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this. That phrase makes me hurt inside.

Indeed, why is it so hard to buy players who are just very good in one position as oppsed to being 'meh' in three.

Lol.

You fucking rate Riise.

The Wingback cum Left Back cum Left Mid!

Riise played predominantly as a LB; and he was part of a very good defensive unit.

There is nothing wrong with versatility in players, but it should be AFTER primary ability in a particular position is proven.

As in : it's better to get a very good fullback who CAN play left mid when required; as opposed to buying a so-so fullback because he's also a so-so player in 2 other positions.

Is that crever enough for you?

Now stop stalking me, you brainless racist.

Do you have to inflitrate every thread with your Rafa hate? Give it a rest, this thread is about Arda, plenty of other threads discussing the failing of Rafa.

Fair enough, mate.

But in my defense, I do think I replied one flippant comment with another. 😉

How the fuck would you know that Arda wouldn't predominantly play at left mid then..

That's where he's been playing for his club.

Riise was "predominantly" a wing back when we bought him afterall, before we turned him into a left midfielder, then a left back, then a left midfielder again, then a left back again.

Just follow Badminton or something, it's a lot simpler.

My original post had nothing to do with Arda and was simply a tangential remark about the fact that we keep buying players who "can play" rather than "belong" in a wide position. I don't know whether that applies to Arda, as I said, I haven't watched him that much.

Avmenon never said it was something that applied to him either, so I don't know what you are going on about.

As for football passing us simpletons by, there are a number of top teams right now, that have players who belong on the flanks, and play there almost exclusively.
I thought Turan was fast and skillful, if so then surely playing on the wing would suit him fine?
I love Arda Turan. He is skillful and tricky. He gave us a torrid time in Anfield a few seasons back.

A much better explanation of what I was trying (and failing) to say.

Thanks, Ali.

Hopefully Mike Sahib gets it now.

(I guess I should be grateful he suggested I watch badminton;least he didnt ask me to watch Chinese Checkers)

Not really mate. It was a totally irrelevant comment to the thread. If you understand football, you'd realise that the outside left or right position i.e. 'wingers' are now almost defunct. Hence the remark football has changed. Maybe they still have them in Malaysia?

We should be able to get Ribery for nothing then, we'll just kindly let Bayern know he's now vestigial, but we'd be happy to take him off their hands.

In my opinion, Ribery is no more a winger than Christiano Ronaldo. He's a wide striker, there is a difference.

Yes, like the attacking midfielder Arshavin who can play on the left, and the attacking midfielder Joe Cole that can play on the right.

We can get that left winger Robben instead and play him on the right where he's been playing all season for Bayern!!!
