I won't stop untill someone bites....
He'd be a quality option alongside someone younger like e.g.. Aquilani or Sneijder.
Has always been choosed ahead of Alonso at Int. level and albeit not at his youngest anymore he'd be a quality replacement - and he'd probably even come rather cheap should we be interested.
Didn't they slap a £20m price tag on him last summer? As much as I like him, he's not an Alonso replacement and he's too old.
That would of course leave him well out of the picture.
He's 'only' six years older than Xabi though and it seems that he's peaking in a old age after all. Had his debute for Spain in 2006 - as a 30-year-old - and he kept Alonso benched back then.
You may be right of course as he's a tad bit old but it is possible to win the Premiership with 'older' players just ask veterans Giggs or Scholes. Would he adjust quickly he'd be a real steal at the right prize.
Senna shouldn't be the only replacement but more as an option. Both as Masher's back-up and as for Alonso's position in behind Gerrard.
Haha, only six years!
'only'
Anywas you'll find that Senna is still faster than Alonso despite him beeing 33-years-old and as such it is irrelevant.
You don't think it's relevant that he may wish to hang up his boots in a couple of years? Come on, khl.
He's too old. Great player, too late in his career to be adapting to a new club in new league, particularly at the price we'd have to pay. It's a non-starter.
I think it's relevant of course but I would've thought the prize would differ accordingly between the two?
E.g.
Alonso = £30M
Senna = £8M
There's still a few good years in him so at the right prize he'd be a great buy as a stopgap signing untill someone younger (e.g. Aqui) would be ready to take the wheel.
There are many quality players out there who would be excellent buys at 'the right price'. The simple fact is, that price is nothing more than an idealistic figure. It has no foundation in reality.
