Well no point in haggling over fees. If hes the lad Rafa wants get him in and make him feel part of the side. Lets not spend all summer penny pinching then lose out on targets like in the past.

Media said Aquilani had a sudden change of heart (right after Alonso's deal went thru), also said Aquilani planned to come over Liverpool on Wednesday now everything's on hold. Could be a trick from Roma to hold you on ransom. I mean Aquilani is a vastly popular figure in Roma, I am shocked to hear they're willing to settle for € 20 mil, being a home grown boy and such.

Could see Roma asking for more right this moment, the whole world know you're loaded with Alonso money.

Real Madrid have officially agreed a £30m deal for Xabi Alonso, opening the door for Alberto Aquilani to join Liverpool.

The news had been in the air for some time, but this evening it was confirmed that the Spanish international will make the move, subject to a medical.

Rafa Benitez was expecting this and has already taken steps to rebuild his squad, as a deal with Roma midfielder Aquilani has been in the works for several weeks.

Now that Alonso is ready to complete the transfer, Liverpool can make an official offer to the Giallorossi of roughly £15.5m.

His contract would be a five-year deal worth £3m per season to play in the Premier League.

Roma have made it clear that they need to sell in order to finance any new moves, while Aquilani is the chosen ‘sacrificial lamb’ because they have an abundance of players in midfield.

There is also the element of concern over his fitness, as the Italian international has barely played in the last six months due to a recurring right ankle problem.

He underwent surgery to clean up the injury on May 13 and is still in the rehabilitation process.

I don't think they're suggesting Aquilani is not coming, even the insider from Roma said Aquilani is going to be a Liverpool player, just that Roma wants to get a couple million more.

Sudden change of heart bit is bullshit, a personal friend of Aquilani said he agreed the deal within few hours and very excited about it, De Rossi's favourite player is Gerrard and so does Aquilani. From Roma to Liverpool is a massive upgrade he knows it.
